slid in a pretty deep rut. winched myself out, then rolled the winch only to get back in and find myself unable to drive out...hooked the winch back up, pulled a little further...get back in, the battery light goes on(alternor), and i have just enuf juice in the battery to get me home right after. the truck gets a new alt.+ optima batt. when i get home.

Great pictures!!!
Hey Sandcruiser, to which beach were going when you got stuck? My dad says that Guanacaste got heaps of rain this year.

I can sorta play... In September I drove up to Alaska from Oregon and in addition to working my land wanted to run the "Stampede trail" where Chris Mccandless died and there was a movie/book made about (Into the Wild).

So, here is me on the trail, about 16 miles as the crow flies from the nearest highway, probably around 25-30 trail miles and cross one creek and one river (right before the big river that turned me back and ironically was the river that turned Chris back - on the other side):

I was stuck pretty much square in the middle of this for about 4 hours:

Got stuck another time right before the second river where I actually got high centered on some harder mud while in some soft muck mud and put the truck in 4low while on and got out while the wheels were spinning and used my highlift jack to lever against my SOR bumper and finally got it worked forward enough that the truck started to take off. Pretty good adventure for doing it all by myself :hillbilly:

I slept pretty good that night ;)

we were headed to Avellanas... beautiful beach that has a *much* easier road access, but we chose the hard way just to see if we could make it.

Gte *did* get a lot of rain this year. In the first week of October alone we got as much as we got in Sept, Oct & Nov last year. They say it is the rainiest Oct we've had in 30 years, and I believe it.

On the plus side- trees are awfully healthy and green right now. :)

knew you all could do it!

thanks!

I was thinking Negra.
On the road to Avellanas, a couple of years ago, we found a couple of ticos who drove their Daihatsu Terios into a ditch, that thing was almost on its side. It only took five people to pull it out using a strap. Those cars are light!

How in the world did I miss this thread??

I have one of me buried deep in some great southern mud, but have to find pics. This was on one of my first trips with Upstate Cruisers. JP (ClemsonCruiser) and I were going back down to meet up with out second group. When we were talkign and looked up and we thought it wouldnt be bad. The mud was completely smooth, then i hit it and tried to goose it and it wouldnt work. We dug for 45 min and then started walking. Finally had a old guy and his grandson pick us up. (We saw them a hour or so earlier and they said if we were still walking when they finished fishing they would give us a ride.) Well we made it down but the other guys who we were meeting had headed out to try and find the other group. finally got in touch with them and then headed back up and got pulled out. That was a long walk...7 miles or so and then the old guy drove us another 6+!!!

I will find the pics around here somewhere and edit this soon.

Me doing what I usually end up doing looking for some wheeling...something dumb. Dropeed into this hole and it swallowed my 33. Had to leave it overnight b/c I had to get back to watch the kids and the TJ who was with me had a 9K warn but he didnt have enough weight to get me out.
