Strange things are happening with the red top optima wth?

So, from what I understand the 27F is the group size and it also designates the terminal location but doesn't necessarily tell us what the cranking amps and other specs are. I know there's going to be a range and that all 27Fs will suffice for a stock vehicle... but is there maybe a specific 27F that is recommended? Or maybe a set of battery stats that are better suited toward a vehicle with a winch and aux lights?
Batteries have come a long way since our rigs were built. I think just about any 27F is going to meet or exceed the original requirements of the car. I run a $25 Interstate 27F that runs my driving lights and Powers my Warn 1200 just fine. Don't need two batteries, as I need that space for a future meth injection system.

For $25, I'll try just about anything. Where'd you find one of those for $25? Cheapest I could find was about $125...

Interstate Megatron Plus 27F here too...there's one model with larger cranking amps blah, blah, etc that will fit perfectly in the 80 but the terminals are opposite. Not sure you can beat the price/performance/reputation of the Megatron Plus.

Called Sears to find out when I bought my battery - 9/2010. It still has a warranty so I'll be saving $91 toward my next battery. It tested last night at 220 CCA

It looks like they have two options - a 27F at about $130. Not an AGM battery and it meets all specs of the vehicle. Or, they have a "Group 35" that has some lower specs but is their "Gold AGM."

Decisions, decisions.

I just switched membership from Sams to Costco. I have several Sams AGM batteries and never had a problem. I was surprised and disappointed when I found out that Costco does not sell AGM batteries.

In addition to being long-liived and having a very low self discharge rate, I have found zero corrosion problems on the terminals and other battery hardware.

That would be a plain type 27? The F indicates reversed terminals.

You are correct, all batteries of a specific BCI size are not the same electrical specs. Only the dimensions and post orientation are standardized. The factory spec is 710 CCA and a 165 minute reserve capacity. You will want that or better.

Interstate Warehouse has palettes of them

I called the local Interstate Warehouse (never would have guessed they had one so close) and I got a couple quotes on batteries. Here, the used ones are $50 for a non-AGM (particularly the 27F) and the AGM is I think $60 or more (no specific group size). New, they quote $139. Those used prices include the rebate for the core.

Thanks for the heads up on the specs! I'm going to go with the Group 34R Advanced Gold AGM by Diehard. I will double check the specs but it looks like dimensionally it'll fit in the battery tray without issue.

Yes the 27F is the correct battery. The Land Cruiser (and most Toyota's IIRC) have "reverse" terminals.

Y'all should man up to one of these:

mother of god... Why?

Because, it's light weight and the terminals won't corrode. :hillbilly: I'm surprised Joey doesn't have one, yet, he has been slackin lately, would be a perfect match for the jumper cables?

Yeah I see very little upside with this. I'd rather stick with the Zero Gravity micro start directly wired to the main :flipoff2:

But it's a bigger/better/more expensive version and with the mini one wouldn't need the gold plated jumpers?:hillbilly:

Holy Smokes! That's a lot of sugar for a dime Eddy! Shiny or not.

I really like that Die Hard Platinum though it's $200 as well. I have about three used batteries I could turn in. Would I get credit toward a battery for these turned in for one and lower the price? I always thought it was just a core return but if I can trade in and up that would be great.

$25 sounds like a sweet deal, we have one of those interstate stores with the green car here near me, I can take a look and report back.

...

We have a pretty nice account, so get a discount. The $25 ones are returns, or sometimes blem, shipping damage, etc, cant be sold as "new", so used. The local warehouse is big, does huge volume, so usually has hundreds of these to choose from. They only have a 90 day warranty, but have proven reliable and for the price :meh:.

That's what Angel (local rep) explained to me yesterday. Said they could be actually be old or they could be brand new and just returned for some reason or another. If I were on the hook for the full cost of the battery, I'd probably give it a shot.
