I take the Partner Steel stove and a Lodge cast iron grill/griddle. Does everything I need new is easy to store.

Is that a flip-over/two-sided thingie? I like it.

I've been on a Lodge buying spree lately.

Damn you Saddletramp! :flipoff2: As I'd stated above, I'm downsizing and selling my Campchef, grill box and griddle and had been looking at the Partner Stoves. The Lodge grill/griddle may have just sealed that eventual purchase. The Coleman I have has separate grill and griddles so more to pack and carry.

I have cooked more burgers, hot dogs, steak and chicken than I ever thought I would and it as good in/on the cast iron as any propane grill.

I bought the stove last year, looked at them for a long time and finally broke down. Worth every penny and matched with the griddle, I think it is the perfect camp outfit.

Trying this Alton Brown recipe made me a cast iron steak believer, so many times in the dead of a Toronto, Canada winter this was solid gold goodness.

I know, right?

IH8 this place.

:bang:

BTW, my mother Inlaw is an awesome seamstress, at 84 she still likes doing small projects for me.

That's awesome. My grandmother used to make us clothes and stuff when we were kids, and I hated it at the time. Now that she's been gone a while I really wish she was still around and would make me cool things like the cast iron carrying cases. Oh and amazing soup, pancakes, roast, etc. :D

Agree!
Smash style burgers made atop carbon steel or CI are tastier than any burgers I've grilled over grates, propane, lump, wood, you name it. And no flare ups :)

I'm considering a few of these mats to place over the cast iron to make clean up even easier.

@surfpig i had that exact setup with the Coleman propane stove. It is a great grilling addition with not much bulk.

Very nice.

Problem I have with the Colman grill stove is that the stove side is so narrow that not much besides a coffee pot fits there!

We've carried a Weber BabyQ propane grill for years and have a propane stove in our trailer. We also use a Dutch Oven on trips of any length.

I carry and use a 2-burner propane stove in 44 and a micro primus-butane stove, in my backpack.

But, I bought THIS a while back and we haven't used the BabyQ since... We've cooked everything from bacon and eggs to Filet Mignon... And it cooks great... After seasoning it like you would Dutch oven. Since the top comes off and flips over for storage/travel, it's easy to place a grate across it and use it as a stove, if you want to.

I like to be able to "smell-sterilize" my cooking implements under high heat and cleaning them well when in bear country... Bear appetizers and all that, you know... Probably just wishful thinking but eh, if it makes me sleep better....

(it doesn't... :D)

but it's a consideration as to what I'll take along. The Coleman grill/griddle/stove I have for instance is hard to keep clean when grilling, even with alumimum foil.

Not to worry, I'm getting old so a generator and a microwave oven might soon be in the cards... :D:D

You had the generator and string lights going at Monache two years ago to 'ward off' bears Eric!

nah, that was for the dancing girls, but they never made it, unfortunately.

And did not have a camping microwave oven yet, but got a free one on CL so it's all good from now on. Mmm, some good TJ's frozen indian food next time ... :D and no sticky griddle to attract bears... :D:D

A fridge and a microwave oven... the possibilities are endless... Hot toddy anyone? Yea!

Thanks for posting the link to the Blackstone griddle Danny. A good tool to have in the chuck wagon kit.

just saw one of the latest consumer reports has a big section on grills including the little guys...

Today I was at REI and picked up the Camp Chef Summit stove on sale for $99 down from $129. I set it up and boiled a quart of water in a normal household saucepan in 7 minutes flat from cold which seems really quick to me (never owned a camping stove before). I'm looking forward to field testing it and figured it was worth starting with a less expensive option than Partner for my first go around.
