Has anyone lifted their 100 2.5 inches and left the stock tires on? I plan on buying the lift kit soon, but the tires will be coming later on down the road because the truck has brand new tires on it now.

If you have lifted and left the stock tires on and have a pic. Please share!

Hi, I had Slee put in their OME 1.5" medium lift kit and remove my AHC (it was shot). I still have the stock BFG KO Tires on it. I think they're 265/75/16s

Nice, but does anyone have the 2.5" with stock tires?

Also does anyone have an opinion on whether I should do a lift first or a rear bumper first?

Unless you have 110% dedication, the money and/or all the parts sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.. build your rig piece by piece and THEN once you're done, decide on your suspension needs. Keep a tally of all weights added for the final weigh-in to see what suspension you truly need. Your wallet, yourself, your wife/family and your A$$ will thank you in the end.

I've seen good intentions/build plans go by the wayside TOO MANY TIMES... Most guys start the build with the lift... run out of funds or change direction and the rig rides like a chuck wagon on the Oregon Trail due to insufficient load parameters (+/-) and intended usage.

Would never consider myself an expert in the arena, but I'll offer how I approached my build as an option to consider.

Initially I went with the largest tire I could fit on OEM rims without a lift (270/75/18) and sliders. Similar to your situation, the tires on it were practically new but would not serve the purpose for which I intended to use the land cruiser in the near future. I was able to sell the original tires shortly after upgrading to offset the cost of replacing perfectly useable tires. I attended a HIH event with larger A/T tires, sliders, and stock suspension. In this configuration the land cruiser did everything I was willing to try (albeit I was pretty easy on it being my first time in the mountains and having a long drive home ahead of me). Within the next year, and after having the opportunity to see multiple options at HIH, I decided a lift and bumpers were in order. Knowing the rear bumper would likely require a heavier spring rate, I opted for the Slee/OME heavy 2.5 inch lift with diff drop. The rear bumper was coming next (before the front) so made sense to just start with the "heavy" suspension with Slee springs to minimize an overly exaggerated lifted rear end (stink bug look). Rear Slee bumper balanced out the suspension, then followed by front TJM (requiring minor torsion bar adjustment) and upgraded UCA for better front end alignment results.

I agree with @reevesci that you should have a plan for the build that helps minimize changes that will cost you more in the end. However, I'd bet circumstances will change along the way and likely so will your plan. I found the OME shocks to be good, but very stiff (reminded a lot of driving my 3/4hd diesel). With the help of a generous raffle win at HIH, I was able to upgrade the shocks to ICON at which time I extended the brake lines using Slee's kit. While the raffle certificate helped tremendously and was very much appreciated, there was still a hefty cost with this opportunity to change shocks. But, I completely enjoy the new ride with the ICON shocks and feel the cost was well worth it. I'll likely put the relatively new OME shocks up for sale here some day.......

Enjoy the process of building your land cruiser. It's been a first for me and a total blast! There is so much good information on this forum and great people here willing to help and offer advice and opinions.

Do you have a jack and jack stands? If so you could always jack it up 2.5" and see how it looks.
The rear bumper would determine what lift you put on, you also will most likely need to do something with the suspension to accommodate the added weight of the bumper, especially if you plan to have swing outs. Fwiw, I had the slee/ome heavy 2.5" kit on mine without a rear bumper and the lift was right at 2.5", when I added the bumper it dropped to 2".
I was told this kit wouldn't work without the bumper on there as it would lift the rear too high, this was not the case with mine.
Hope this helps!
Let me know if I can help you with your bumper needs :)

I think @tpatrickmc had 265s on his when I last saw his rig.

He might have pics. even if he went up in size. They were stock size but ATs, iirc. But his rig is also built, so it might be hard to get an idea from looking at his.

I looked through your rear bumper thread, but didn't exactly find pricing, or availability?

I had nearly stock size - 275/65/18 BFG KO2s. I purchased these before did any other mods...and yes I am going bigger this spring and using the smaller tires as a winter set.
