Can someone please help me identify what I have and some advice on rebuilding or replacing. Here’s the back story, I just restored a 1977 FJ40. At some point it was swapped over to power steering with what I believe is a Saginaw unit. The 6” of play in the steering wheel is mostly in the box.

That box is a 3 bolt which is a quicker ratio - get the 4 bolt - source a 76 Jeep J10 box, it may show 2 for that application, 1 of them is identical except it has a larger piston , part # 27-6529 thats the one you want. Its same as yours except you have to add the 4th bolt. It is a 4.25 turn lock to lock which is a bit slower than the 3 bolt you got. There are three bolt boxes with the 4.25 turns lock to lock but most of the time the 3 bolt ones I've run across have the quicker ratio.

I see it on Napa online remanufactured for about $250. Will my pump lines hook directly to it ?!! Is this much the same as what I have ?!

It uses flare, I assume your is flare. Should be a direct replacement except the 4th bolt.

Look at your last pic of the coupler from steering shft to box input - Most use a u-joint there and they will not clear that little tip you can see in the pic protruding from the steering box input shaft, your coupler clears it so no need to remove if you are using same piece.

10-4 i got ya now ! Thanks a bunch for the help and advise !!! My next project will be the steering shaft. It has two breaks in it with small u-joints that look to be small rubber blocks with a pin through them. Better pic when I get home today

I have two of these “u joints” that just have too much play. Are there any options for replacing this section or just replacing the two worn u-joints
