Steering boot protector (1 Viewer)

Is this "steering boot protector" important?
I've somehow mangled the one my driver's side. Should I replace?
They come off with the factory skid plate, and I'm willing to bet most running aftermarket front skids are not using them.

Good luck getting the bolts out without snapping them off. I tried to remove mine while putting some paint on the frame. Bolts would not budge. I left it alone.

The thing is plastic, like the splash guard. Not sure how I ripped it off, but it's definitely not a robust "shield." It doesn't fully protect the steering rack boot, either.

I've already had these bolts out and replaced when I installed Slee's skid plate. The little shields come off when you unbolt the factory skid, and it's not that apparent that they should be put back on when you install Slee's plate.
Would somebody with a Slee front skid plate take a quick look and see if they're reinstalled on your rig? If yes, are they bolted under the skid or over (I bolted mine over)?

I removed the "protector" when I installed my Slee skids. So far, no problem.

I run them with my Slee skids but I have had to replace one side. Price wasn't too outrageous as I recall. I figured it was one more line of defense from a bush or rock smacking the rack.
