New to site today
I have 74 fj with a 350 conversion
I have noticed a few wires taped and connections not going anywhere I assume from the original motor
I would like some advice on how to test these connections
I am a carpenter and not good at ohms volts an that sort of thing.
I have a test light and volt meter (My Dads)
Not sure on where to start.
I was going to lengthen my test light to reach the ground on battery to b sure of a good ground and start probing. good idea or not??
Or is the volt meter a better way (Just another way)and if so do set on 12v and what would i see on the meter if hot or not
Any advise would be apreciated

I feel your pain - just went through this with my rig. The best advice I can give you is to:

1) Get a hold of the Toyota Factory Service Manual (FSM) and the Haynes manual.
2) Download apllicable schematics from Coolerman's website. !Oy: Coolermans 1971 FJ40 Build
3) Find someone who knows wiring and electricity to help walk you through the schematics and troubleshooting process, in person.
4) Post pictures here if you want to know where stray connectors and wiring are supposed to go.
5) Your test light and voltmeter should be enough - plus the schematics - to allow you to test what you need to test.

Good luck!
