Kalawang, if you are re-engineering the truck you're not fixing anything, just compensating.

No I'm not re-engineering. There's a part of the starter that we thought might not be passing enough electriciy and causing intermittent failure. The solution was to clean it up and add some solder. I have 2 starters both of which show the same problem so I apply the idea to one, mount it and see if the starter becomes steady. If it doesn't work, I dismount and think some more.

We've already taken it apart three or more times and re-examined the parts. I've had this problem for about a year or more. One of these days I'll give up and just buy a new starter, but not now. Not yet.
