Had both my power seats stop sliding back and forth. I could hear the motors trying to turn. I took out the motors and the gears. I noticed I could not spin the gear bushing in the gear cover plates, it was seized up. The grease had become hard and the bushing had some light corrosion or hardened grease. I removed the gear/bushing off the cap and cleaned it up with a small wire brush. Assembled everything with new grease and it works now. For anyone doing it I would recommend putting zip ties on the threaded portion of the rod to keep the position of the mount that bolts to the seat. Saves measuring and taking things apart.
Not sure if this was posted already, was searching as I figured my gears were not stripped.
