So this has plagued me for a decade. When it's hot the front doors squeak when opened - sounding exactly like a door hinge needing lube. Unequivocally, it is not. It is the door strap that stops the door from opening too far and the mechanism is inside the door. I've tried all manner of pushing the red tubes in it from the hinge area into the door. No luck. Not even for a short period of time. That indicates to me I am not able to lube it from that direction. Anyone had luck fixing this without pulling the door panels off? Thanks!

Squeaky

Lube baby lube the hinges and the stop check thingy

I used paraffin based bike chain lube, because dust. Did the job. :meh:

Dry silicone spray works on the check strap and won't pick up dust. It needs to be reapplied from time to time

Dow Corning Molykote 33 Medium (silicone grease). But I cleaned
and greased it while in the door doing other work.

Door checks are still available. Replaced mine a couple years ago and they actually perform there intended purpose and never squeak.

White lithium grease here. The squeaked when I bought it, but they havn't squeaked for a year.

For the win: Heavy duty penetrating grease

So I'm gonna speculate that most of you replying have NOT gotten whatever lube you mention into the mechanism inside the door. I'm specifically asking how any of you got the lube inside the door where the squeak happens. I have a number of lubes but its not a question of lubing the strap itself which is childs play. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a rusty hinge which you can confirm by comparing effort to close with other doors. If so: pull door, temporarily support on a chair or sawhorse, remove hinges, stick in a vice and work in lube of your choice by twisting back and forth with channel locks. Heat may be required. Same for the tailgate and rear hatch. I learned this from reassembly after paint.

Edit: Tip - mark an outline of hinges on the door and jamb before removal. Saves time not having to readjust the door which is a pain and sometimes requires fender removal to do properly

If this is not your issue - sorry, you will have to pull the door card to get to the 2 bolts and remove the limiter. Most likely worn plastic where it flares as it passes through (designed to exert pressure near the end of travel)

Shred - yeah as you surmise its not the hinges. I'm so anal I actually lube the power antenna once a year or so and thats why its still the original metal mast after 27 years (!). The hinges are good. It's the internal bit.

Heavy duty penetrating grease is special stuff.

Shoots in a liquid state so it gets into hard to access spots; then it sets up like grease and stays in place. Has PFTE in it and is stable in a very wide range of temps.

Perfect for: sun roofs; squeeky doors; spare tire chain; throttle cables; etc.....

Years of shooting without muffs fixed all squeaks for me. Simply can't hear them. :(

Me too, my hearing lost came from lots of shooting in early 60's when we knew nothing of hearing protection, so now all i hear is a constance ringing in my ears. I do have to say, there may be one plus to my hearing lost, i now have a valid reason why i can't hear my wife when she asks me to do something on her honey do list, Ha Ha.
