I was wondering what's the scoop with square tube drivelines? Are they stronger than normal ones? I imagine at higher speeds they vibrate more... would it be a quick fix? Any write ups on building them?

I have seen one on a club members FJ40 that he built himself. The thing is stout, and has tons of travel. There is no way to balance it, though, so you would be limited to slow speeds only in 4WD. Also, with the shaft so overbuilt and strong, I would worry about the transfer case if the shaft took a hard hit. It looks like it gets the job done for cheap.

I would never consider it in the rear, only in the front on a rig that never needs 4wd at road speeds.

long discusion over on Pirate on this too..mine works great!
