SQOD Squad - Stupid Question Of the Day (4 Viewers)

Maybe consider a dedicated thread for post-refresh LX to see if anyone else has those aftermarket bars, and if they can come up with a brand name that would help you find the tools.

They are oem bars (PT278-60180) but from what I can tell, the key is not numbered separately. Other Lexus and Toyota models do have separate numbers for similar keys but I don’t know if they’ll fit. I guess I’m taking a trip to the dealer.
$14 on ebay might be worth the risk?

Any recommendations on a national vehicle hauler service?

There is a shipping forum. When i had my rig shipped up from Texas I used the sponsor vendor for that forum.

So that what that is.......Thanks!

I drove from Atlanta to otm cruisers in Leeds Alabama. They changed globes, struts/mounts and flushed ahc. They were great and well worth it.
Just curious why drive right past ACC to go to OTM? If it’s high drama feel free to PM or ignore.

I’m only familiar with the OTM name but I keep a shop waypoint folder on my maps just in case SHTF and I’m out of town.

My SQOD....

How hard is it to fit 4 LC wheels/tires in the back with the 2nd and 3rd row folded up??

I'm about to find out, as I don't want to drag my trailer 4 hours if I don't have to

Pretty easy? , I think I fit 5 no problem. And I still have my third row seats.

Tie one or two to the roof. Expedition style!

I fit all five stock 21s with tires, no problem.

Alright, my turn to add another SQOD - I'm chasing an electrical gremlin. The interior cabin lights do not consistently turn off (which is annoying) and happens while parked, locked, and in garage (see attached photo). And this is erratic, unpredictable, and even sometimes appears while driving and the dome lights are illuminated (which is really annoying).

It seems to have some association with door open/close sensor - but I cannot 100% narrow it down, meaning it may not be only the DS front door (sometimes this 'fixes' the issue, other times it does not fix), sometimes it is the DR rear door, PS front, PS rear, etc. and I cannot simulate all 4 door closings so end up just chasing this gremlin.

I've removed the sensor harness from the frame, cleaned the rubber weather stripping gasket, sprayed with a common wd-40 electrical contact lubricant, and did notice the OEM sensor did have a thicker lubricant. I am attaching pics of the DS Front sensor I am referring to.

So - has anyone else seen this odd behavior and know what the solution is? Am I on the right path and is it as simply as replacing these 4 door open/close sensors and all is good? If so, what are the part numbers?!? (I looked on partsouq and similar but wasn't easily located) Or something else?

Not sure if the LC and the LX for 2011 are the same, but my LX courtesy lights will come on when I get real close to the vehicle. Nothing to do with opening a door. That might have something to do with your issue?

Thanks for the reply! My LC also turns on curtsey lights when the FOB gets close. But that is working as expected.

For this current issue, one of several tests I ran: I locked my LC, removed the battery from the FOB to ensure no interference, let LC sit overnight. The following morning, I walked into garage and all interior dome lights are still on. (Again though, inconsistent results but common enough of a concern)

One way or another, most electric power in the vehicle runs through connectors in the door sills. Erratic electrical gremlins are often traced to corrosion in those connectors. You probably already know that, but just for fun, have you popped up the door sill trim to look for water signs and/or checked the connectors for bad pins?

Toyota sure didn’t spare the electrical circuits in these cars. Good luck with tracking your issue down. Inconsistent trouble is a real time consumer, and a dealer fix likely is pricey.

Quick stupid question:

One of my TPMS sensors died. It would take forever to register on the dash. I would get 4 pressures reading, and the 5th would say CHECKING

But now I just have the "Check Tire Pressure System" message on the dash all the time.

Questions:
Can I find and replace just the one that died?
Do I need to go OEM here?
I should probably just replace all 5, right?
