I'd check Amazon for the extruded pieces now. It's more readily available from lots of vendors than it used to be and much better pricing than the websites like tnutz and 8020.
Will do.
Actually, I’m hoping that somebody by now has kind of made a kit for Land Cruisers; so as to remove the possibility of me screwing it up by ordering the wrong stuff.

Where's the excitement in that?

I feel like i saw something else recently more in line. Here's something that's cool.

And Gamiviti makes some stuff to do neat things with the OEM rails.
(this link is probably not the only thing they offer)

Thanks. The Gamiviti brackets are what led me down this path. I worry about the torque they would put on the rails if I mount an awning on them. So I was/am trying to figure a way to attach an awning to cross-bars instead.

Of course, if you give us a glowing review on your Litewing awning, all my searches for stable methods for attaching an awning become moot since the Litewing is so light.

Haha, I guess I need to get on that.

Previous owner had the windshield replaced by someone who didn’t know 200 series, now my moulding is not flush. Any quick way to tell if the moulding is bent beyond use or if I can salvage it by trying to get the clips to seat?
Pics?

I get a momentary rattling noise from either of my rear doors if I shut them with even light force; front doors are solid. This cruiser was definitely a kid-hauler at one point, so maybe it's just from years of abuse. Anyone else have the same issue? I can post video if needed, but figured I'd ask if it was common first. I tried searching the broader 200 forum but came up Milhouse...

Took it by the same dealer it was sold at in 2008, they have their own glass guy and he confirmed all plastic clips are shot but thinks he should be able to work with the mouldings in current shape. Pics in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. Bonus pic of the LFA they had there.

Count yourself lucky they are still attached at the top. Must be the colder weather. Those moldings aren't super expensive even if they needed to be replaced.

Here is an excellent video if you just want to see what it entails. I always like to know what's going on, even if I'm not doing the work.

I had a similar rattle for a long time. Though for me it would also rattle a bit when driving.
I was very happy when I finally figured out that it was just the rear seatbelt. It had come out of the little holder on the B pillar and was hitting the pillar.
Probably not what your issue is, but maybe worth a quick check.

For sure, I’m going to give this guy a shot as I have a road trip coming up, if it doesn’t take I’ll buy new ones for $150 each (yay canadian exchange rate)
Probably one of those times when it's best to not order the parts strait from a dealer with no discounts. You can get these from Japan/UAE directly for far cheaper. Or if you can have a US dealership when Toyota does it's big sales they are probably considerably cheaper. I threw both the left and right moldings in my cart on IMPEX Japan, and with shipping both moldings were about $85 USD.

I’ve dealt with the seat belt rattle as well. Fortunately I don’t hear… whatever this is while driving unless going over really rough terrain. Unfortunately, it is definitely coming from inside the door panel.

It's been so long since I removed this panel that I don't remember what (if anything) connects to the circled plug. Any clues? I have an 2020 LC200 2-row HE and am thinking this plug is for third row seat belts or a Lexus LX amp or something??

Wild guess: the small puddle light in the door panel?

Another WAG is a connector for airbags the 2 row does not have.

Just now realizing this is the rear cargo area not a door panel.

Airbag connectors are usually bright yellow..

Rear air temp sensor in the side panel? Though it’s not like Toyota to make the pigtails for them that long, when they could put that connector closer to the actual position of the sensor..

@Julian73 is it one wire or two?

89740-60022 Door Control Receiver

I believe it's part of the keyless entry receiver system. Maybe an appendix from the earlier generation keyless entry?

Oil filter housing question here.

I am looking to replace the plastic housing for my next oil change. I see that I can use the Venza/metal housing LINK HERE. However, in the pic below, the area where you put the socket extension is seized/glued on and won't come off. So basically, what I've been doing the last 2 oil changes is just removing the whole filter housing iteself via the wrench and not using the drainer tool that comes with the filter. I just leave where the socket extension goes in place...

Does the housing I linked come with this? I've been told I have to move over some parts from the plastic piece to the metal one. Want to make sure I have everything I need before changing the oil. Thanks.

Also, if you recommend a better source for the part, let me know. Looking to keep it OEM, no need for the fancy aftermarket stuff.
