I’m looking at a 2014 LX570 136K miles, seller took some pics of the undercarriage and then I saw this in one of the pic . There’s some writing on the rear diff as if it was replaced with a unit from a junkyard or something . His other things for sale are boats, what do you guys make of this? I’m 600 miles away

What did the owner say?

He hasn’t responded, but what if he says he doesn’t know ? He’s not the first owner, is this a red flag?
Looks more like assembly line markings than junkyard scribble to me, but I cannot confirm that. I don't think I'd be too worried about it as long as the rest of the truck appears solid.

You can always price a new/used third member and put a $ on the downside. Odds are it's probably fine if the truck's a runner.

It's very common to have writing there, I've seen several questions about it on here before. It does not indicate replacement.

Here's mine:

Outstanding. MUDpower never disappointing.

Alas, all of this brings me back to my lament about the over-electronification of modern vehicles. I'd give up power windows and more to get a 200 which depended on 80% fewer lines of code. Knobs and wires in exchange for simpler self-fix-ability. I once had a dream (literally) that BMW made a modern model M3 with all the electronics removed, save the engine management goodies, and a manual gear box. But I fear that the future holds Chinook-based recovery of Cybertrucks for firmware issues or things someone in a 100-Series would have tree-shaded to resolution. Brave New World

EDIT: if anyone remembers that post from a guy upset about LC stuff breaking, and why owning this bullet-proof forever vehicle requires so much maintenance and repair, please point me to it. Cannot find anymore. I think I am ready to craft a response; a personal exhortation, which is not designed to dissuade or persuade.

Dat me.
And im pretty convinced now the ‘17 LX interior is just not the same as prior years in rigidity.

200 does need TLC though. Thats for certain.

Quick on topic q for the thread:

Ill probably be soon pulling my first braked trailer for my move (personal effects i want with us) if the non braked dinky uhaul isnt big enough.

Is there a non intrusive brake controller i can add without hassle for a week and install/remove easily? Hopefully without pulling any panels?

Id love to do the whole OCD and top dollar routine, but i just dont have the time right now.

Check out the p3. It is the old standby around here.

Thanks.
I have never used one of these, and I know there is probably a trillion pages on them here, but can you tell me or point me to a resource of what it connects to in the cab? Any option that just works of obd2 maybe and is plug and play?

It took roughly two hours to install the not premium priced Reese towpower iq hard mount brake controller. Since you won’t be searching for where to mount the box because you can copy me, I think 90 min would do it.

I use this one for my trailer rental for people without a brake controller. Just plugs into trailer and 12v outlet in vehicle. No wiring.

Here's my SQOD...

Was wondering what these things are in the 3rd row area.

They appear to be some kind of clip but I have no idea what they're for.

Stupid question, or maybe a challenge: Who else knows about the hidden cavern beneath the front seat carpet? Kiddo dropped something this week and I found there is a slit in the carpet just behind the front trim on both driver and passenger seats. After retrieving the toy I also pulled out a dozen pens, a 1/4” ratchet (PO’s), a mystery key, and other assorted junk.

do you have a picture of this area?

No. Push your hand under the front of the seat along the carpet and you will feel the cutout. Dive in and feel around. Happy hunting. 😃

If you put the seat in the forward most and elevated position, you can get decent access to that area.

Just a guess, but the amp for the upgraded sound system in the LX570 lives in this area. They may have designed the platform with this in mind and it is just left as empty space in the LC200 variant.
