This is exactly what happened over here, I thoroughly cleaned the shims and then lubed them. Rears started to squeak, then the fronts, that said it happens ~50% of the time during low speed braking.

If a re-bed doesn't solve it I'm going to use copper anti-seize on the shims after another bath in cleaner. Will snap some photos too.

I do take some comfort hearing that, even though we know its not the best answer. If I was the only one I would be questioning my skills but its a straightforward job so I don't believe its user error. What really gets me is why only 50% of the time? How can it be completely silent one stop sign, but not the next. Heavy highway breaking has no issues. Its been a good enigma trying to figure it out.

Since i'm not alone, it gives the thought that its just the pads and rotors getting used to each other, or a some kind or micro-particles in the pads chirping. Time will tell, if it doesn't subside after a few more thousand miles, I may redo the persistent squeaky ones.

Sounds like you all did the right thing yet are getting squeal.

These brakes shims do wear even if it doesn't appear so, and with a looser fit has opportunities to squeal. Might also try applying grease to them, if there wasn't, particularly on the sides/ears of the brake pad. The sides and ears of the pad, where they contact the shims or caliper frame directly.

Rhetorical but stupid question.....

If I pay you for something and you tell me product will be done and delivered in 8-12 weeks, or 2 weeks, or 6 weeks, when do you expect it? COVID delay is not an excuse, or at least a very weak one, as I ordered it during the process; if you don't know what is happening in your supply chain, don't commit.

Further, what do you expect as the consumer in terms of communication from the seller if your item is several weeks past delivery point?

It sounds like you ordered something from Gobi....

As the years have passed, I've lowered my expectations on time commitments because it seems like very few places get it right. The end product being done right is almost always far more important.

I get that and mostly feel that way too. It's just being in business for myself and knowing how important communication is. And taking my money..........

Agreed for sure. I just try to get a bit less stressed out about it now, but it definitely still annoys me when I'm told something like 2 weeks and reality turns out to be 6.

Yeah, FedEx is in on the woe is me Covid game too. Not refunding ANYTHING now that shows up late. Poor management if that's their excuse. I hear there's plenty of people looking for work if they need some help.

At this point, there's very little excuse for not having a reasonable grasp on supply chain and production timelines aside from the various countries where lockdowns are being reinstated on a more or less unpredictable basis. My freight (both ocean and air) has certainly been delayed over the past several months, but it's all been both expected and well-informed by my freight forwarders throughout the entire process.

8-12 weeks is what I'd expect from an overseas mass manufacturer, not a consumer-facing company (even if it's a made-to-order product).

SQOD When you renew your license plates, do you remove the old sticker or just place the new one over the old. And if you do remove the old, how do you go about it. As they’re tamper proof ( at least in Missouri) it’s been a frustrating endeavor when I’ve tried in the past.

I just put the new one on top of the old one until they get too thick after many years, then rip them off and carry on.

I found that when they pile up a razor knife & single edge razor blade slices them off to bare metal.
Lather, rinse repeat...:)

I stick the new one on top of the old one(s) then use a razor blade to "cross hatch" the new sticker -- so you can't take it off in one piece.

Smart! I never thought of that, but seems like a good anti theft approach.

I use a plastic scraper to peel the previous ones off, a little heat softens the glue up so they come right off. The NH stickers are pre-sliced, so they always come off in pieces.

Heat to soften up the glue is a good trick. I've usually had good luck scraping the old ones off once a few have stacked up. The MA stickers sometimes come off the backing paper they're sent on in pieces, which makes it "fun" attaching them to the license plate without it looking like a 3 year old did the job :).

Plastic razor scraper makes quick work of it. I do get lazy and let it pile up to 2-3 stickers sometimes.

I would temper letting it get taller than that because - people looking to steal registration stickers love the one that are stacked up. It's easier for them to pull the latest sticker whole with the old ones providing a stable backing.

Learned this lesson after losing one and have been more diligent about culling the stack. It's amazing how eagle eyed cops are in CA. In the month it took to get a replacement, I had 3 cops pull up behind and I could see them typing my license into the computer to check before they zipped off again. That's what clued me into the fact that I had my registration sticker stolen.

Ended up just sticking them over the top. When I renew again in two years I’ll remove them. And scoring with a razor blade is what I used to do, but Missouri’s stickers now come pre- scored for theft deterrence.
Thanks all for the input👍
