So I’ve been thinking about this for a bit. I wheel on tight, wooded trails, and roots like the one below are a real potential damage maker.

What do you think about side protection rails?

I would have BudBuilt make them out of some serious tubing, tie them into the sliders.

But think it is unnecessary? Helpful? Ridiculous looking? I should have already done it?

the tsumara designs cup holder works pretty well. I got one for my dad's gx470. I spoke with the owner of Tsumara. he is working on a similar filler for the LX570.
I haven't followed up with him as I figured out a 30 oz hydroflask with a Nalgene neoprene sleeve fits perfect with the center divider moved one slot over to the side.

Hard to believe Tsumara thought this would make a nice "product shot" on their site...!

I dunno.. Not sure what Bud would do there, but I've never seen rails that seem adequately strong. I'm thinking of scenarios like leaned in against a rock face, where the upper contour of the rail would be important. Could a rail hold the weight? I know the ARB rail is not that strong... Would be hard to make such a long, curved tube that wouldn't get tweaked inward on a real impact. If there WAS such a rail, I might be interested, but with the mixture of bull bars and sliders out there, I wonder if one could be marketed that would be reasonably compatible. Like the ARB for example. Doesn't it require ARB sliders (weak) and an ARB bull bar (not weak!)?

In my example, I've got 2.5" TJM tubes up front, and Slee slider tubes. Seems like it would almost have to be completely custom.

Watchu think?

In that particular photo, it looks like the potential damage to your door panels wouldn't have been stopped by the cage, since the most vulnerable seems to be the middle between the front and rear tires as you turn.

So to explain the photo, the root was always pointed the way it is, but if I would of had a rail there it would of impacted it the rail. That’s just where it ended up, oh and thank you line x. The line x does have to drag marks on the rocker panel/ mud flap area, but the slider saved the door. So that’s where I was thinking if the slider had a wheel well rail, maybe it could of kept it even safer?

This would be a one off for me, like you said, too make combinations out there.

The long tube just can’t be that strong, for the reason you mentioned. I though about connecting the downward bent together on both sides with a tube that would run over the cowl. But that is just too much, and I don’t want to limit how much I can see out the front.

I’ve almost accepted that it would be a protection piece that is one time use. It’s a super back up, I have never knocked a fender, but then again, the 200 is a big girl and you should see how close I’m getting to trees.

I don’t know, what do you think now?

And Tony, eco cage might just happen when KDSS fails. I’m dead set on a SAS with 40s the day the expensive KDSS bits it, if it ever does.

get bigger tires and you don't have to worry about that crap ;)

Haha, trust me, when I think big tires, if it starts with a “3”, it’s not that big. And things that start with a “4” just aren’t possible right now.

Okay, There are 58 pages of these SQOD thread and trying to find all the answers is daunting.

Here are my questions:
1. Is the dual zone on the climate system always dual zones? Meaning I have to press both buttons if I want the same temp in the vehicle.
2. Where did the internet link go for the bypass to the front LCD screen go. I want to mod this.
3. With your tire size increase from stock to 33'ish have you noticed a gas milage decrease?
4. Had anybody got a conversion cable (HDMI to RCA) for the rear console to play their videos via smartphones?

Regarding climate control… I drive a 2008, so it might be different, but on mine you simply press the climate button and then press the 4 zone selection on screen so that it is no longer highlighted. It then switches to a single zone. It will stay in single zone mode as long as you, The driver, press your up and down arrows. But if a passenger presses their up or down, it assumes they want their own zone and switches back to 4 zone until you go through the climate button and on the-screen deactivation of 4 zone again.

On #4, I use this:

iSimple ISHD01 MediaLinx HDMI To Composite Video/Audio Adapter Cable (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LUX1F5K?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Works pretty well, though I have to use a lightning to HDMI adapter from Apple from an iPhone.

I did the nav bypass with this (if this is what you are referring to).

Beat-Sonic NDS6223EP Navigation and DVD Control Bypass Module Combo

Did the same thing in my ‘15 IS350 from the same vendor. The dash disassembly looks intimidating but with th plastic pry bars it is really easy to do.

What have you guys done with your brakes? Replaced with stock or gone aftermarket? If aftermarket, are you happy with your choice?

My pads need to be replaced and the rotors have 100k miles on them, not sure if they have ever been turned.

Has anyone found a good spot to put an ARB air tank on the underside of a 200 Series?

Ive been running the TRD pads on stock rotors. Major improvement over OEM pads

Thanks guys, I ended up getting Terrain Tamer. They're 20% off right now.

What inch lift does the high setting on the LX570 provide?
Leave yours in normal mode and measure from the center of your wheel hub to the bottom of your fender. Then put the setting on high mode and measure using the same method. Compare the results.
