That is fairly obvious and where I would expect to see the connection.

So I potentially have a dilemma. I'm picking up my 200 tomorrow and leaving for the lake on Thursday. If it's not there, what's the likelihood of being able to get the parts in time to make the trip? For the cruisers that weren't delivered with the connector installed, does that mean it didn't come with all the hardware or somehow the hardware was stashed in a storage compartment and would just need connected and bolted on?

From the picture above it almost looks like it's a bracket and a cable that connects to another connection just above and too the right. So it's not a complicated piece. Or does it wire in further back than what I can see there? That may be a bit rhetorical as anyone who has it installed from the factory wouldn't know whats needed.

Mine was delivered without the harness. You are correct it’s just a plug and a bracket that plugs into the factory harnesss and bolts into available holes. Like a 10 min job to do. Parts are the issues though, I went round and round trying to get Toyota to get me this piece, eventually they did but since the build sheet does not mention a Towing Package, the dealerships that are not used to this rig will say you just didn’t order the right package. Well I didn’t order a windshield either, but the truck still has one. Either way, not a part that they usually have in stock, mine showed, shipped from CA in 3 days.

Thank you. Any chance you have the part # anywhere? I expect a similar experience from my local dealer as they get very few coming through here and every time I ask anything they ask if I have an FJ (and I'm not going to clarify at that point).

The Toyota parts website has a part it lists, but it doesn't look like the one pictured earlier.

Any idea why my new Galaxy s7 won't charge in the 200 usb or ac port? It charges fine from the back cargo plug, but not up front at all, using oem cable etc. Nothing. Shows charging but get no increase in battery.

Others are more knowledgeable about this than me, but I believe this is a dealer-installed "prep" item that should have been done when it was delivered new. Someone at the original dealer didn't do it, so now they owe you the parts. It's a simple harness that snaps into the rear wiring, then there is a bracket that you see there that holds the plug. If your truck is being purchased at a Toyota dealer, others have been successful at getting them the parts for free.

There are other threads on here about this, should be easy to find with a search. That's the only way I knew this.

Can I have two since I just got my 200?

Is there an easy way to remove the OEM roof rack cross rails? There are two of them and I'd like to remove them to clean and polish the roof in advance of the arrival of my gamiviti rack.

The driver and passenger side view mirror glass seems loose. They wiggle and bounce a very small but noticeable amount when driving. Is this a common issue? Any idea if they can be tightened?

Thanks!

@fireball do a search for mirror TSB, there are a couple threads on this. the three screws that hold the mirror into the housing are too long.
the TSB is shorter screws with locktite pre-applied 3 washers and the plastic trim piece that goes on the bottom.

Update: Got a copy of the TSB. See attached. Confirmed with the dealership these parts are are ~$17 per side.

This should get you what you need. https://forum.ih8mud.com/attachments/tsb-0017-11-pdf.584632/

Is anyone running 34x10.5x17s on the OEM suspension? Just got an '08 and have a set of fairly new KO2s in the aforementioned size that I'd like to run.

Suspension update will wait a bit until I decide what to do with the front bumper.....hidden winch mount using ASFIR or similar, or a full on front bar.

Thanks!

I did.

34's on stock setup - it's done, now some advice...

Depends a bit on the offset of the wheels, but the short answer is that it's doable if you don't mind cutting a chunk of the plastic inner liner and you're not wheeling the crap out of it offroad. If you're going to take it offroad, the 34s may or may not scrub the front fender if you flex the suspension when your front wheels are turned. PM me if you have more questions.

Thank you sir! Sorry for not making better use of the search function. I usually do my MUD reading on my phone while waiting in b/w appointments and the search is a bit hectic on the mobile device.

Sounds like I'm about one beer and twenty bucks away from fixing my shaking mirrors problem!

Here's one:
Why is it when your stopped, in traffic or otherwise, and you switch to sport mode (slap the gear selector to the left to manually select the gears) does Toyota default to 4th gear on the dash display. I realize it still starts in 1st but why doesn't the display tell you so. I get it while its moving as a downshift, but when stopped??

S only shows the max gear, unlike sport mode in my Acura which held you to whatever gear you selected until you slowed down too much.

I don't know why it does that when stopped...since it automatically downshifts even when you specify 4th.

My only theory beyond that is that it might be considered a "mid range" that will will neither thrash your transmission if going fast, nor lurch forward from a stop. Sort of like a "safe" starting range, leaving you only two shifts from 2nd, or two shifts from over-drive.

If you switch to manual on the freeway, it still goes straight to 4th. I assume that's because it guesses you want more RPMs than overdrive...and is safer than shifting to a lower gear. Also...if it defaulted to 3rd...and you don't realize you bumped it? You might over-rev without realizing it (think mall cruisers).

Bottom line? Who knows...
It would be great it Toyota explained the WHY...but they rarely do.
Like.... Why did you put those ridiculous screen in the second row???? :hillbilly:

Has anybody ever replaced their gas fill door?

I discovered today that the bottom half of the hinge on mine is broken. That explains why it kinda flops around when open, and doesn't sit flat in plane with the fender when closed.

The door isn't very expensive (~$45) but I'm assuming getting it painted to match won't be cheap. Looks like it unbolts from inside?

I'm afraid the upper half is gonna break and it will fall off if I don't get it replaced.

IF you can unbolt assembly from inside I'd venture a good welder could tig weld a tab on it replacing the missing part?

Turns out there is a nylon/plastic bushing in the hinge, I guess it keeps the door from flapping around when it's open. So welding would just melt the bushing.

And closer examination, it looks like it's held in place with pop rivets!

I want to change the gray color on my front grill to black. Can any one confirm that the 200 grill is two pieces and can be taken apart? The imported black/chrome grill Japan is $600.
