I've searched online, owners manual, and even the gui menus themselves, but I can't figure out how to disable the beep alarm for opening a door, specifically the rear hatch, for all events (key on, of, engine running etc). For example, if my kid is sleeping in his car seat and I need to open the rear hatch. How do I stop the beeping?!?

I can disable the keyless remote lock and unlock beeps but not the"door is ajar" beep.

Anyone know how to do this short of panel pry bars and wire cutters to snip the electric gizmo out of existence?

Pressing the unlock key when out of the car will stop the rear hatch beep...but...

Man, I totally agree.
-It's as though it never occurred to them that opening the rear hatch was a normal....necessary thing...that that you shouldn't hear a BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP until MAYBE you are seated INSIDE the vehicle! When it can tell you are not seated at the wheel...why on Earth would it insist on a long beep every time you open the rear? Silly...

Entering the rear hatch.
Not allowed. Usually get a loud Nooooooooooooo. Signal.
We are talking about the same thing right?

@arich Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure it is the same thing, so i'll give an example. Let's say the kid is sleeping on a road trip, and I stop for gas and my wife pops in for a coke and some chips. If we open the rear hatch, the long, loud beep can (and will/has) woken him up. I'd like that beep disabled.

I don't know if it is strictly occurring only when the key (i.e. wireless remote key fob buried in my coat pocket somewhere) is powering accessories on only, or if while engine is running. Regardless, I want the beep disabled.

Hope that helps clarify the issue, and I greatly appreciate your thoughts/suggestions on how to turn off the beeping!

What's the emoji for dense? I just got the @arich reference. Yowza that went south fast. (@arich another softball lob for you)

you are pushing the little lock button as you are opening the rear hatch causing it to beep... look at the rear hatch when it is open, you will see what I'm talking about, if you don't hit that little button your kid can keep sleeping:)

That's it!! Kereiten WINS THE PRIZE! I just went and tested it, and sure enough... It's simply hitting the "lock" button...after it's opened...and so the truck is assuming you are trying to lock the car with an open door...and sounding the alarm to alert you.

Hooray!

Well done. I wouldn't have gotten that one.

@kreiten once again, very informative and helpful! Thanks a million. I guess the engineer of the hatch release didn't plan on my dumb old meat hooks fumbling around when opening the door.

oh,...but of course

Stopped in my local audio shop today to see what the cost and or parts needed would be for an upgraded sound system. I was told our (LC's) have a proprietary system ( speakers, amp) and that you cannot simply switch out speakers without changing our amp due to the low watts they (OE speakers and amp) pull.

If you did just address the speakers only then the new sound level would be half of the volume we experience, now, at stock because the after market speaker world makes speakers that pull / need more watts
Than our OE system can push. If I have not used the correct audio industry terms pardon me.

Not saying OE is bad or anything, I just wanted to look into alternatives.

Anyone else on here moved forward with upgrading their setup?
What did you do?

What is a Diff drop?

I've done mine but didn't have the high end system on the full options/US spec cruisers.
