Since I got my 80 series in 2007 I've wanted a cargo barrier for Porter my Alaskan Malamute. A Milford would be nice but they are no longer imported and personally I don't want a full barrier or even the 1/2 barrier they offered to work with drawer systems.

I wanted a barrier that just goes from the top of the middle row seats to the headliner. I call it a 1/3 barrier. That way one can fold the middle row down and still haul a long item without removing the barrier.

So for the last 4 years I've wanted to start a small garage business to build barriers for others as well as myself. But until just recently the time nor the money was available at the same time. Well the time has come and I built my first prototype last week. I now have a 1/3 barrier installed in my 80 series. I plan to also design a 2/3 for those with drawer system who want a barrier from the top surface of their drawers to the headliner. And a full barrier, floor to headliner. Those will come later.

Barriers are constructed of 3/4" square tube and bent on a JD2 tube bender.

Pricing $310, or $340 shipped to anywhere in lower 48. Sales tax added if you live in Colorado

New wire pattern on page 5, post #98.

If interested in purchasing a barrier please PM me or email to SpeskiOffRoad(at)gmail.com. Include your name, phone, shipping address, & email. Thanks

Mounting the unit requires removing the two 3rd row grab handles. Intallation takes approx. 15 minutes. It can be removed without any evidence of it ever being installed.

You may have noticed I have one of Hanna's cargo carriers installed on my drivers side. My barrier currently will not allow for 2 Septer type water bottles of fit with the barrier. I'm in the process of designing a specific barrier with a notch to allow clearance for bottles. Will post when done. Probably after Cruise Moab as time is getting tight.

Speaking of Cruise Moab. If you plan to attend please come and see the barriers during Vendor Night. I will have a limited few barriers in stock and ready for delivery. After which I will be taking orders.

Noah I'm glad you feel that way as I've been working on this for some time. Then I saw your barrier pop up a few months ago.... But our two designs definitely have there differences. So they should fill different peoples tastes.

no worries bro, in business there is always competition, and I like how yours is done, the more choices people have the better! For me, I have a great time making these, so it's all good.

I will be out in Moab as well. Hope to see you there. I have the white 80 with way too small tires and some sea turtles on my truck! :) come by and say hi.

later,

Noah

Next up...

Take this 1/3 barrier design for the 80 series and make the same for a 100 but wider of course. I have lined up the use of a 100 series for product developement. But it will have to wait until after Cruise Moab folks.

Corbet

Congrats Corbet! I know you've been itching to find a fun way to make all those other additions to your truck. Once I figure out my ECU deal, you know I will want one, with the puppy coming. Please mark me down somewhere in you list so I don't have to wait till the end of summer.
For those of you that haven't seen this in person. It is stoutly built. Just look at his dog. You can rock the truck by it!

edited first post to swap out unfinished pics of prototype for finished barrier from powder coat.

Playing with the final powder coat finish. Here are two that I've had done so far. A 3rd will be delivered to me next week. Please feel free to comment on the two finishes. Top is a simple black hammer tone. Lower is a flat black textured. The lower one is what I have installed in the first post. The 3rd finish I have coming is another flat textured but with less texture

Edit: The bottom barrier has the finish I decided on. But custom finishes can be done.

Nice work here.

I'd indeed be interested in a full length barrier but one that would bolt just behind the front seats--below the hump where the fuel pump access door is.

Have plans to build that too. Are you going to be at Cruise Moab this year? Come see me if you are.

Make the triangle bracket foldable so you can flip the whole unit up when it's not needed. Plus you could use it as a shelf.

Just an idea.

Thought of that. Biggest problem is that the width at the bottom of the barrier is too wide to "fold" it up to the headliner. I could be built narrower at the bottom but you'd loose coverage then when in use.

WOW, these are really nice looking!
With the seats down, what is the measurement from the bottom of the barrier to the seats?

About 14" between the bottom of the barrier and a folded middle row seat or 23.5" from the floor to the bottom of the barrier. Let me know if there is anything else?
