My odometer [fj55] has stopped working, actually the tenths are still turning but not the miles portion. Anyone have a good lead on a speedometer repair shop they have had a good experience with?

I always like when when the "search function" police show up....thanks for your input-dgangle.

But to answer your sophomoric question -

I did use the standard and advanced search functions and did not find an up to date or detailed thread to help with my problem. The Technical list was no help on this subject. I m willing to wager another more helpful reader will chime in with a suggestion or guidance based on their experience in this matter.

Thanks again for your help, its much appreciated!

Your better off just replacing it. I would think you could find one for 30 or 40 bucks.

By the time you get a mechanic to look at your Pig you will already have spent more than what a replacement would probably cost. There are several Pigs being parted out in the Pig forum - maybe you could snag one off of these.

At the risk of coming across as an a$% , I have elected to delete my input from this thread. I thought I was being helpful. Good luck. .

Update:
I got a P M about disassembling and cleaning....afraid its a little deeper than that.
so far I have the unit on the bench down to coming up with a plan to break it down so I can disassemble
odometer itself. I left it last night at the point where I need to remove the needle off the stem in order to remove the bezel face to reach the numerals.
Anyone been down this far on the trail before? I m not sure what gears turn the Mile numbers but I guess once I "break" it open it should be clear as mud.
If this procedure is unsuccessful my next post will be a WTB Instrument Cluster 78 FJ55.
Cheers
Ray
