Has anyone put a new speedo cable on? My speedometer does not work and while I have everything apart I would like to replace the cable. The cable is seized on the housing and will not break loose. I have sprayed with PB Blaster numerous times and cleaned up the threads with a wire brush. I have even gone as far as pulling the cable as well as the gears out. I do not want to damage the gears or anything inside. Does anyone have suggestions?

Be careful with this suggestion, but it should work.

Reposition it in your vice, tighten it up...but don't go crazy...then get a pair of good size Channel Locks & turn the riged part that screws the cable on.

A bit of an unclear description, but that prob will loosen it. Might be better to use Vice Grips instead of Channel Locks.

I would use a Dremel and carefully cut the threaded cap until you could split it since your replacing it. If a part is nolonger usable I have no problem destroying to save other parts I want to use again.
