Love mine. Super easy to install, and made a huge difference in wheeling ability. From playing with it before I buttoned my diff back up (and from a few YouTube videos), my understanding of their function is this: They're always locked, except when turning, when one wheel outruns the other. Way simple and very smart.

Awesome! And only a 3 hour install! Ok, I'm sold. I do have a wench, so the front can wait, haha. Thanks so much guys! If anyone has an install video, that would be great. If not, I'm sure I can dig around and find one. I'm not the best at figuring things out on my own when it comes to automotive mechanics that I've never done. thanks again! Super stoked.

spend a few extra and get detroits for rear and TJM selectable air lockers for the front! ARB is over priced!...i guess you are paying for the customer service!

I had detroits in my XJ and TJ trail rigs. They were very reliable and took a LOT of abuse when running my 37's. My issue with detroits is that you know it's back there. Both of mine were noisy as hell. The occasional pop or bang could get so bad that people thought it was a gun shot. It would make you wet your paints if you weren't expecting it. Never had one break or fail in any way on me but they are noisy and HORRIBLE in icy conditions. the last thing you want is to lock your tires on ice. Locked tires on ice is no longer driving, your sliding. My neighbor has the grizzly locker in his TJ and my buddy has a Spartan in his JK. Both are much quieter on the road then a Detroit. The "pop" is WAY less noticeable. I have seen a Spartan locker right next to a Detroit on a work bench. The Spartan seemed just as well built and beefy as the Detroit for quite a bit less money. I don't want to make this a bash fest on Detroit. They never let me down on the trail or pavement and got me through some nasty stuff over the years.

took me much less than 3 hours to install the spartan on my '92 with semi-float rear.... about 1/2 that.

detroits in the rear of the LC is not noticeable! reliability is what we are after...detroits have no "o" ring issues, air line issues, air compressor issues. just know if you have any type of locker related issues in the front, just be glad you have a rear locker that will work for you.

@bhicks
that makes me wonder about locked diffs in the snow and ice. Even though we don get much here, that is scary because I love driving in the snow when it does happen. It makes me think that controlling the lockers would be safer. I don't know, I still want the ability to know I won't get stuck, like I knew when I had lockers. Gives me something else to consider for sure.

I don't find it a huge deal, but I have changed my driving habits a tad playing in snow, slick wet snow the with a lunchbox locker.

I've changed my driving habits zero. It's an AWD vehicle. COMPLETELY different than having a rear lunchbox in something like a Jeep. I don't notice it at all in ice or snow.

Uh yeah. AWD that is ALWAYS locked. Driving a welded rear in the snow sucks.

Don't have one in the 80 but have noticed most (ice and snow/slick) in curves under power -pushing. uphill curves (because under power) or off-camber. Have to get used to using throttle to unlock.

We've had unusual weather here lately. 2 ice storms and a night with 7" of powder. Never noticed a difference. Many others say this same thing. I had one in a Heep. It was not too cool in the snow/ice. Way different than in my 450. YMMV.

I notice the difference, it's important to pay attention in icy conditions as the rear end will walk around under power.

Power? What power? :hillbilly::steer::zilla:
