Spacer mounted to the carrier. Allows the carrier to open and clears the corner.

I got some 2 inch square tube and used as spacers between the swing out and tire bracket. Drill holes through the tubes to match existing holes, requires longer bolts.

Looks good. This is a common solution. I'm not sure if this is an issue or not. I would wonder if the sq tubing might eventually crush. You might eventually need to sleeve the bolts inside the tube or use bolts and nuts for the inner and outer mounting points.

A kind mudder sent me a spacer like that when I moved to 33's, but my rickety old carrier combined with moving the weight out from the vehicle made me too nervous to hang that big tire off. I ended up getting a 4plus carrier for the peace of mind. If you want the spacer, PM me and I'll send it along to you for postage.

I was initially worried about the swing out back plate warping, or tweaking the tub where the swing out bolts to it. But so far so good. It's been on a few years now, with some solid wheelin' days. My hook/latch for the tire swing out is worn, and I use a titen strap to keep it closed. I unknowingly lost the titen strap on the interstate one time and drove I don't know how long with the swing out completely swung out. Thought for sure it'd be fubar, but alas, no damage. :meh:
