I can't tell from my Haynes if there are special bolts to attach the spare to the carrier -

This for the back of the carrier (body side) - Spare Tire Rack Bumper - FJ40 8/'76 and Older - https://www.coolcruisers.com/spartirracbu.html
And for the bolts that actually hold the tire to the carrier, I see this kit - Tire - Spare - Box Frame Rack - SST Bolt Kit - Series 40 - 29 ea. - https://www.coolcruisers.com/tispboxrasst.html

Is there anything special about those bolts? Would any nut/bolt work or is there something unique I'd need for that?

All the links you provided are the bolts to hold the tire carrier to the body, and a bumper. To hold the tire to the carrier, you usually use lug studs and lug nuts like living said.

much obliged!
@pb4ugo - you are 100% right, it's just the closest thing I could find.

I'll find lugs and post pictures in a week and a half - the 2 land cruiser exodus is happening Oct. 17.
