F*** that! I'll watch....... Nicely done man. I bet that was fun.

Nice group of Yota's you run with.

Let's talk weight. You posted this on Instagram so this free game. 6,160 pounds.
How do you put an 80 on a diet? You wrote you lost about 600 lbs by taking off the bigger bumpers etc... So I'm thinking if you take all the doors off, remove the rear hatch or at least take the rear glass out. I hear the 80 seats are also heavy, what if you replace with lighter manual kind. How much would this actually help & would it be worth it? Hmmm.

It's super easy. You just start removing things.

Most 80 owners wheel them because they desire a certain comfort level while wheeling. The amount of weight you can drop is directly related to the amount of comfort/convenience you are willing to sacrifice.

I just drove and wheeled this on 600 mile round trip. It was miserably loud, hot (and cold), incredibly dusty, I got sunburnt and I packed "light". Obviously, lots of 80 owners wouldn't want to do that - if they did they would probably have wranglers. Anyways, losing weight is easy, but you also lose a lot of what makes an 80 an 80.

Found another one for you! Steep ledges leaving Buck Island lake towards Big Sluice

Sweet trucks. I'm sure that little climb is absurdly steep, but seems like your front end reaaalllly unloaded coming up that. Could have been angle, too, it's tough to tell. Have you considered limiting it somewhat? Maybe a center strap?

Awesome! Isn't it a bummer how the videos don't even come close to the real thing?

I was going to ask how you like it without all the "expo" gear. Probably makes a huge difference. Maybe a bob next to get rid of some of the weight hanging out over the rear axle.

Yeah sometimes it's really hard to capture steep angles in pictures and videos. Truck sure does feel a lot lighter than before, but still a lot heavier than I'd like it to be. Chop and half doors are in my future. Don't think I'll ever bob the truck though as I need the room for camping gear. Bobbed I would have room for an ice chest and nothing else. And when you take the wife camping you gotta have at least some creature comforts :)

You rank up there with @Wrench now. I put you with my collection of hardcore 80 series vids.

Ha nice, I feel honored!

I do have limit straps on each side right as the coilovers reach full extension. It was steep, but I haven't felt it become unsafe and I don't think I've lifted a tire yet. When I was on stock radius arms the truck was really bad at unloading. The tires would leave the ground on any steep climb as soon as you hit a small rock. It was bad. If you notice the tan 3rd gen 4Runner. His tire got several feet off the ground. I feel as though the 3-link is a lot more stable and predictable offroad than the radius arms, it's a huge confidence boost.

Here's an old video. Climbing up a dirt/gravel road, mild incline. At 0:20 tire hits a small rock and leaves the ground.

damn nice .. !

did you feel comfortable with the amount of body roll you have I'm probably pretty confident truck wise but body roll with concern me .. ( if I ever had the chance to do something like that in Marilu )

Sorry I missed this post earlier. I've gotten used to the additional body roll, keeping in mind I'm on a 3-link with no front sway bar so it drives much different than stock. I'm actually in the process of working on a custom splined RuffStuff swaybar in the back. Hoping that helps to control the roll a bit more while not limiting flex.

400lbs less weight your buddies need to tow out of trail is helpful good when that chebby goes boom :)

killed more 1FZs and 3FEs than i ever have GENIII small blocks. say what you want about a chevy but they are fantastic engines, MUCH better than the forklift engine that comes stock in the cruiser.

to each his own man, i was just offering a suggestion to get rid of 400 pounds. remember that most of us arent purist.
