Hi all - 2013 200 series owner with ~95K miles.
I'm in the VA area so we are slowly getting out of the winter cold however, I started noticing a slight sharp sound in the engine when I turn the Cruiser on. I've noticed the sound gets louder as I press on the throttle - it's a shrieking sound that I've also noticed on my 1998 3rd gen 4Runner. It usually goes away when I restart the vehicle but it's been on and off now for about 3 weeks.
I imagine it has to do with the engine belt and the belt expanding and contracting due to the shift from cold and warm temperatures? I'm curious if any of you have ran into this sound before and is this a component that needs to be routinely changed? If so, how often and what is the typical mileage?
As I approach 100k miles (finally breaking the Cruiser in...), I want to hear from you all the proper maintenance procedures for the 200 series outside of routine oil changes.
My local Toyota dealer is recommending the following services (with cost) for 100k Miles:
Thank you!
