Okay, sooooo, I have a 2000 LX470, the car drives perfect, everything works, AHC, A/C, engine, the works, however it has some electrical problem of sorts. When driving, especially with headlights of any type on, if I step on the brake even a little the car engine RPM goes really low like it's gonna stall, the headlamps dim, and the A/C goes off, sometimes (when still holding the brake) the car recovers without completely stalling, other times it goes off completely and a restart is needed. So that happened for some weeks, I only usually drive the car on Sundays so it was manageable, but then few Sundays ago, I go to start the car, and I open the car door and the door dash light is working, security light can be seen blinking, door light is working perfectly, put key in ignition and the melodic beeping sound can be heard loudly and rhythmically, then turn the key to start, and nothing, just a loud click and some dash lights can be seen faintly flashing. I pop the hood, go to the battery, it looks functional, get a meter, it reads 12V as it should, twist the battery terminals to see if they loose, but they tighter than tire nuts, so i go back to start the car, and it starts like nothing is wrong. So i'm just like "huh, weird flex, but ok" and i go. Eventually it happens again, on the road this time. I brake, car stalls and dies. Put gear in P, try to restart, dash lights are dim, loud click, no start. Go and do the touch terminal ritual and it starts up. Anyone know what could be the problem? I think it's note-worthy to point out that the black little box attached to the positive terminal has a broken clip on top-right corner and hangs open but it's been like that from time immemorial. Also, a similar problem to this happened on this car a year ago, mechanic changed a fuse in the passenger side fuse box that seemed to solve the issue but i'm not so sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

I'd take the ground wire off the body (in my 99, it splits right from the negative battery connector), clean, dielectric grease, file / sand a bit around the body contact, and put back together. I think I needlessly replaced my alternator because I failed to do this first. These trucks do weird things when not getting the juice they want. Must feed the beast fuel and electrons or they complain. Might not be the fix, but it is free and easy.

Ok, thanks, spent the whole day (literally 6 am to 6 pm) fixing the AHC (turned out to be a missing fuse lol), the fog light and turn signal on passenger side, the A/C Fan blower, and other stuff, will get to this tomorrow maybe as it's 6:52 pm for me, it's dark outside, and it just started raining. Thx for the assist. Cheers!

Yeah, I also checked the cam sensor wire and it's all good, wasn't touching the fan belt (my fellow Americans would call it timing belt, but my birthland and all it's jargon has been estranged to me lol) , wasn't cut anywhere, and is all good. Just a heads up if anyone was thinking about that.

Okay, so I looked at the ground wire, disconnected it and sanded it and sprayed an electrical insulator on it. Did the same for both terminals and battery heads. Car has not had an issue the whole of today, but the real test will be on Sunday when coming home with high beams on (or off if the problem persists). I'll keep you updated. Cheers!

Okay, got impatient and test drove the car myself. My mom was to go to the market so I drove her. Drove the car with high beams and fog lights on, double turn signals on, front and rear A/C set on highest, and all inside lights and radio on. Nothing dimmed when I used the brake, car never went off or showed any sign of stalling whatsoever. On the way back, same deal, everything electrical on, used brake and listened for RPM drops, didn't hear anything, didn't see any bad signs on dash. I think it's safe to say the issue has been resolved! Big Cheers!! :cheers:
