@NookShneer has been egging me on for some youtube. He has been making great progress on his FJ40, which is getting me excited to get back into mine. I hope they can meet in Ouray. I'm not very experienced with this youtube stuff and am doing it all from cell phone, but if ya'll are bored..

Nice work Klaus. If we had said earlier that SAS#4 was the year of the 40 would you have been as ambitious?

Stopped in at NAPA to get my buddy some new shoes/wheel cylinders. I decided I might as well get all oil for the front/rear diffs, H55F, Transfer, and OD box. This weekend I will be putting in a new heater core as well. Slowly stabbing away to be SAS READY

Not mine, just copy and pasted from Facebook. A good heads up for everyone.

ROAD CLOSURES OURAY

The Ouray County meeting today was to voice concerns about establishing gates/barriers for the passes. The main reason for the discussion is : IF a second COVID wave hits or ordered lockdowns closures, so that the county has the ability to physically close these areas off. There were over 140 locals and businesses at the meeting. Everyone wants them open and plans for now are first open: Red Mountain Pass and Yankee boy by May 30th . The commissioners, want to keep everything on schedule, but have the ability to close if needed and if they should go ahead and buy the barriers? Ben Tisdale (county commissioner) wants to do everything to protect residents and tourists ESPECIALLY for tourists from states with heavy rates of infection. as well as working with Federal and State officials. The commissioners voted by consensus NO, to spend to buy barriers, BUT they are making plans to acquire and investigate stockpiled supplies. They are posting signs that emergency services may not be available for visitors.

Consensus @ this time:

NO blockage of roads at this point

Instruction given to staff to cooperate with BLM NF, for closing practices if needed.

Instructions for emergency command and signage in the back country

Yessir, unless there is a second major outbreak they will open the area. Millions of dollars in tourism is what Ouray Country depends on to survive annually.
Like we have said in the past. SAS#4 will be happening on schedule unless the Government says no way. If that does happen we will have SAS#4 in 2021. All registered people will have an option to stay put or get a refund. Nothing will change except the date. Still year of the 40, still OD Green as our event shirts and trail flags.
Stay healthy folks, looking forward to seeing each of you guys in Ouray.

Well what started as me trying to find pictures of @Zjohnsonua and me at Classic Cruisers, led down the 63 page rabbit hole of SAS #3. Now I got an itch for #4. Loved all the photos. I even made some of my coworkers look at them.

Happy Cinco, y'all.
