Been looking for a no sunroof/roof rack/rear wing cruiser for a bit. I was gonna get one but the guy ended up selling it out from under me after a month of trying to meet up.

Looking for as poverty spec as possible, no sunroof would be the ultimate dream but I know that’s virtually impossible, so really looking for one that doesn’t have a roof rack or rear wing. Color doesn’t matter too much but really prefer green. I can’t travel too far unfortunately but also really want to find a Cali one and is truly rust free like they are here. Also really prefer 95-97 but may work with pre 95 is it’s worth it. I know what I’m looking for is rather specific (hence the frustration in having basically my dream spec being sold after spending so long trying to buy it from a seller) but I’d figure I’d see if anyone has anything out there.

Good luck with the hunt.
If you want true poverty spec you also want cloth interior, which is very rare '95+. If you find it be sure to post some photos!

Super rare but they are out there!

I’d recommend subscribing to the 80s for sale forum so you know when rigs get posted.

Also subscribe to this thread as well if you haven’t already:

Lastly, be ready to buy quickly…you’ll have to move fast as others are looking for the same setup!

Yeah I’ve seen a 94 in my area about a year ago but it was far away and someone bought it before I could get to it. I’ve seen a number of 91-92s in my area lately but people are always asking pretty high prices considering the shape/miles/year.

Yeah I follow that thread, figured out I’d put it out there just in case someone has one that isn’t listed or something. I’d be happy finding something good shape if it didn’t have a roof rack and wing too. No sunroof is the dream but won’t pass up another good choice for it.

I have a 97 collector edition with a new engine and roof rack deleted if you’re interested. Still has sunroof. Roof rack is gone now.

I’ve talked to him, not super interested in a FJ80 unless it comes at a pretty nice discount on the price.

Yup. I tried meeting up with him for five weeks, he cancelled every single time we made a plan to meet. I had cash on hand ready to go too.
Sorry to hear man. I ended up buying it.

It's definitely a project car. I was glad to see that the motor was relatively healthy - the car sat for 8 years, and he bought it off the previous owner, drained the gas, replaced the oil, put in a new battery, and fired it right up. I drove 4 hours home to San Diego on bald tires. The paint is rough compared to the photos (clear coat peel, scratches from sanding, etc.) but the body is relatively straight. I just need to resolve this check engine light and smog it. Then the baselining continues. I can't say you're missing out on much as of right now, but it was one of the cheaper ones in Cali. The partial poverty pack is also a nice touch.

Yeah the cosmetic stuff doesn’t bother me and it wouldn’t be primary car so it being a project wasn’t that much of a worry honestly. But I’ve been searching for that color combo and no sunroof/wing/running boards for a long time, so I was pretty pissed when he kept cancelling and then sold it to someone else. It’s pretty close to what my dream spec is, which is of course a true poverty pack that has none of the options lol
