hey steve,

is there any major difference in original toyota wiper moter and this jc whitney one?

Hey Archie,

Not a lot of difference between the TNK motor and the JCW other than an off/on switch on the motor itself. The orginal Toyota wiper motor was a vacuum operated unit, much different than both the JCW and TNK.

As far as power steering, tranny options, etc., I'm leaving mine stock, and not enough of a mechanic to tackle something like that anyway. Sorry.

Let's see a picture of yours.

Steve,

which moter has the on/off swtich on the moter itself? and toyota original motor is vacuum one... means is that manual and not electric? and is there any benefit of having vacuum motor or original motor?

I will post some pics soon, right now my rig is at mechanic's place. once I will have it home I will take some snaps.

The JCW wiper motor has the off/on switch (pictured previously). A redundancy if you already have a dash-mounted wiper switch(s).

Yep, the original FJ25 wipers were vacuum operated; not electric. The benefit of having those, is having the Gods of FJ25 Purity smile down upon you. And, having the rest of us on this forum trying to talk you out of them. ;)

You get one, I want my core back. :D

My youngest 25 had the vacuum wipers but there was a adapter plate between the windshield and the wiper. One of these days I'm going to check to see if the windshield is tapped for the TNKs. I seen old pictures of the 25s in other countries and they have the TNKs. 40s had the TNK from the factory until 1967 when thay switched to the single wiper motor. So for me if it's not the vacuum wiper it's going to be the TNKs.

I pulled the one reflector I have in town. brand STIMSOLITE, model# NO12A. Has SAE A 60. ON the ring it's mark SAE A - DIETZ - NO86 - USA. This one had three of these on it (1963-40) I know I compaired these to the 1961 fj25 that had the three reflectors on it. Brand and size is the same as this one. Does anyone else have any of these? I don't think the ones with the stud were installed until the 68 model year. There's a clean 67 on Ebay right now and there is no room outside the bumperettes for the reflectors. Jim what year was themilitary trailer that you checked the reflectors on? Eric what type are are your 25?

It's been over 35 years since I had my first FJ25 that had vac-op wiper motors. IIRC, wasn't there also a manual override lever arm on those? Anyone got a close-up pic of those old babies?

Ooooooooohhhhhhh

My reflectors have STRATOLITE NO.38 on them. No vacuum wipers on my rig. I got a pair from Rob Meredith a while back and ended up giving them to Paul Decker with the '57. I suspect Rob is wishing for me a special place in hell.

Any tips on FJ25 Power Steering Conversion??? I am trying Astro Style, but not sure if its gonna work, coz it seems fj25 dosen't have same space as fj40 in engine compartment. also mine has chevy straight six in it.

Archie - Space and layout should be the same as any of the FJ40 Conversions, check out the technical links on the top of the page. Only thing I can think of that may be different (if you're going Scout, Saginaw, Astro) would be the FJ25 tie rods being a smaller diameter than the FJ40. But if you're going with a disc brake front end that's not a problem. If you want to modify, just follow any of the FJ40 cook books........staying stock is the challenge. ;)

Well, what was supposed to be an hour project turned into 3. I wired the rear lights. They look great. I used the repro SOR lights witht he red lenses and just soldered in the extra wire. Piece of cake. Then I decided to remove the trailer lights that the PO used. This is where it got interesting. They were being held in by carriage bolts, drilled three holes through the tub of course, which turned when you tried to loosen the nut on the back. Out came the hammer which turned them into little pieces. Then I took the die grinder and cut off the bolts. What a PITA.

Next, I tried to figure out why one of my front signals wasnt working. Broken connector on the terminal block. One twist of the screw to get the old one off and you guessed it, snap. Luckily, the new terminal blocks were in the glove box but I wasnt planning on installing them tonight. But they're on now and everything works nicely. Aren't the parking lights supposed to work on the bib also? I think its time for new signals up front too.

I believe the parking lights work independant of the headlight. If the 25 switch is like my early 40/45 switches, the parking lights come on when you turn the light switch two clicks ccw and the headlights go off, one click ccw and you have head and tail, one click cw and you've got just tail. I think?

hmm, new vanity plate? NO BEZL

I wish I could find out who has FJ-25.......maybe make sure his renewal never arrives....... ;) The one useful thing CT DMV has done: Vanity Plate Selector

Now I have to go spend money on a vanity plate....never thought I'd have competition here. 60-FJ and F-135 are already requested on my form Mike, but neither of those work for you anyhow. ;p

Jim,

You created this. :) I'm going with NOBEZL

CT sucks. we're only allowed 6. Available plates in CT:

25.L
NOTA.40
1959.FJ
59.CRZR
JAPJEP
F.120

For the FJ45LV once the dual cases are in:
30021

invalid format in CT but:
NO4LOW
