First car?! Awesome.

yeah first car. I have been holding off for a long time getting a truck paying for school and all. I'm still young, 21 years old and i have the sick truck i worked my ass off for.

that is a great looking truck! what year is it, and who is the supplier?

its a 1992, the cherry on the cake is i think its the post 1992 so i dont have to get brake rotors from japan:) i will pm you.

That looks like a beautiful truck man. I imported my own about 2 1/2 years ago, and it was a great move on my part. Check out my ROTF for the long story on that one (in my sig line)

2 1/2 years later mine's got front and rear bumpers, sliders, a big a** skid plate underneath (just finished yesterday, pics to come) and lots of bush pinstriping. Mine was also a gr 4/B, but she was meant to be used, and she gets used well. I'll take it anywhere as long as I won't damage the body.

Anyway, I'll be looking for more pics when it arrives. I know your excitement. If you're ever in the lower mainland let me know you're coming and we can go for coffee or go wheelin'

Jason

Jason i have religiously followed many peoples progress on their 81s, yours especially. I would love to do a wvo conversion in the future. Plans are to build a rear drawer first, some sliders and then bumpers. I will keep the crew posted.

FB: A couple of sweet rigs! I really like the 73's colour! And thats one clean HDJ.
When your importing/inspection process is complete, can you post the importers name, and possibly where the trucks resided in Japan?
Are the service records included? (Sometimes difficult to get from Japan).
Would also be interested in knowing how the government side of it goes for you up on the North Coast!
Let us know when you cruise down to the lower Mainland!

Cheers
Gord

i don't have the service records. though i trust the guy who i went through. I contacted several people to look for a truck for me and i the guy was the only person to give me the time of day. Turns out people don't really care about business. I have had a few people since then offer to search for me. Government side of things, not to worried about it up here, it will be the same as van.
Top priority is to get them registered, i don't want a ban happening before their registered, then they are lawn ornaments.
I will pm you who i went through and some others i think that are good.

..I am going to be ripping off the bars under the rear bumper and running board and removing that goofy front bush guard...

I'd do the same. That could be the nicest first car I've heard of.:) Three in little PR already? If you get up my way on the ferry, I'd love to take a look.

nice score man...what a beaut. loaded with all the goodies. glad the process worked out for ya! hows the mechanical support for them out in PR? parts are easy enough here in BC...are the shops out there JDM friendly?

i would love to make it up there.
My dad really wants to go do the dempster highway.
I think that would be awesome, i am stoked to explore.

i plan on doing the work on it myself and with my dad.
the only thing we haven't done is flush an auto transmission.
i got a A442, can anyone help me out with that?

No need for a flush-just drain and refill. Ideally you'd have a new OEM gasket and filter for this job, but it's not necessary. Cleaning the metal filter and using gasket in a tube is fine. That said, I have a shop do mine.

Damn, thats an awesome looking rig dude!

Should be interesting seeing you build it up over the next few years..

Grab the camera and shoot video .. just in case it's banged up you can establish that it was in shipping or 'before' you got your excited little hands on it :flipoff2:

yeah i will be taking lots of footage.
theres only 2 trucks in the container.
my exporter says he can fit 4 or 5 in a container at times.
they haven't had a problem with a damaged truck yet

Well...no more sleeps!!:D

Post up some pics when you get a chance.

IIRC you will be unloading your truck tomorrow. Won't sleep much tonight will you? I know I didn't when I was picking up my HDJ81 from the terminal!

Good luck! The locked diesel 80 is the king of the Land Cruisers. (lol!)

We don't have RO/RO here so container shipped it is. 40F HC Hanjin to be exact. Boat docked up tonight:) i went and checked it out. Its a bit obsessive on my behalf. Boat starts to unload at 12:00am and will go all through tomorrow. How do i know all this stuff. The gfs a longshoreman and so is her dad. I have an appointment at customs at 8:30am Monday morning and the other fellow is soil inspecting it first thing. Turns out he likes his landcruisers:) Customs sounds pretty stoked about it too.

Thanks tyler!
