Hey guys wanted to join you on the Snow Run, I'm not a member of your group but I did meet a few of you at Ruidoso last year. Is it OK if I tag along?

Sure Jack - anytime! We actually met before Ruidoso, on Porcupine Rim in Moab.

What truck were you in?

I was there in my '77 FJ40 with my kids (two Beagles).

Hope to see you at the snow run... :D
I was the guy that dented the passenger side door of my blue FJ Cruiser.

Your right, appreciate being able to join you guys, never had the FJ in deep snow. I saw you weren't going to Cruise Moab this year, what's up with that? I was planning on bringing my Daughter, are there any small hills she would be able to ride a disk on?

Definitely will be small hills to ride a disk/sled/whatever on.

We had a really good time in Moab last year over Columbus Day - not so crowded, picked our runs. besides, I was kind of soured on it by the actions of one of the trail leaders at Cruise Moab who wouldn't let us join a non-full run even though a passenger, whose vehicle was no longer available, was going to ride with us and had a reservation for the run.

So we decided to just go once this year - over Columbus Day again. Heard anything about "Thrill on the Hill" this year? Hopefully some more challenging runs - the one down by Tularosa was excellent.

Theres a little talk on fjcruiserforums, date has been set, and yes would be nice if they had some harder runs this year. Are you going on the snow run next weekend?

Yep, we'll be there. Hope to see you!

I liked the easy going trails last time. Gave Molly a good chance to learn some 4 wheelin.

But this year we are going in luxury. I will have power steering, AC, stereo, and all the cool things that an 80 has to offer. Depending on our motivation we might even go for some of the harder trails

I've taken a sled for the kids on a couple past snow runs and they had a blast on it when we stopped for lunch.

Hope to see you there.

Marc

I'm going to be there. What's our plan - the north portal at 9:00 on Sunday morning?

FYI - for those who don't know - the north portal is the gas station at the intersection of 550 & 528 east of Bernalillo.

Evan

P.S. Hi Jack - I was also at Ruidoso last year. If I recall correctly, you were the one with the big band-aid on the side of your FJ Cruiser?

9:00 sounds good to me!

Yes that was me, since removed the bandaid and did a little body work, probably won't be the last time.

9 am sounds good, but where are we going?

My vote would be for something along 126 between Fenton and Cuba, depending on what's open. Does anyone have any knowledge of the snow depths up there? I know we've gone on a XMAS tree run on the roads that go south from HWY 4 near the Caldera. That's another option. I don't want to go on Paliza.

Somewhere off 126 from Fenton Lake to Cuba sounds good, but maybe we should wait to see how much snow we get on Thursday...

If there ends up being too much snow in the Jemez, maybe we could look at Mt. Taylor or the Manzanos, if they have snow from whatever is coming on Thursday. I don't have any maps of either area but I've driven on forest roads in both during the summer many years ago and also participated in a couple Klondike Derbies on Mt. Taylor about 15 years ago.

Is this where they offered the Klondike bars to the person who can best imitate skiing on a coffee table?

Not sure if anyone else is up right now.. but It looks there should be a group of huddling Antarctic emperor penguins out there. Gusts up to 50 mph, blowing snow.. its nuts

I vote Mt. Taylor.

It would be nice to try another area out. Jemez is great but it seems like we are there a lot. Anyone else wheel on or around Mt. Taylor?
