I think it's normal but would like to know for sure. Is there anything I can do, like replace the rings, to make it better and get long life from the engine? It seems to have good power. It has so much power I have to be careful not to lug it because It just keeps putting out the power at low RPM. Is it a high RPM engine, meaning should I keep the RPM up all the time? I understand how diesel engines work but this is my first diesel engine to own. I love operating engines and want to take care of them.

It seems to have good power. It has so much power ...

You might be the first 3B owner to ever say these words in this order! You’ll find endless discussions on this subject in the diesel section:

Chances are someone messed with your fuel delivery setting on the pump to get some more power out of it.

They like to lug not rev, let the engine pull you along at it's own pace dont drive it like a gas truck.

Fresh oil and filters will keep it happy, if your in a state like CA with crap fuel run lubricant.

If you have a turbo you dont want to lugging good way to a broken crank. Your EGT must be through the roof haha
