Got the Craftsman 5.5hp fixed. Needed the spark plug tightened, the primer bulb cleaned out, the choke assembly rebuilt, and surprisingly, it needed the carb tuned too. Obviously, some hot shot had decided to get fancy and started turning things he should not have been turning. I got it all sorted out though, and made a few bucks too.

He then gave me an old mower and told me that if I could get it working, he would buy it back from me, but if I couldn't get it working, I was welcomed to use it for scrap parts.

@lenross1 , still need me to look at the weedeater for you?

HA, I wish! If someone brought a go kart by, I'd probably never let them have it back!

Got some more work done yesterday.

Friends don't let friends run a brand spankin' new Echo PB500T backpack blower without oil. :bang:

Engine was completely seized! I made a special concoction of 2 cycle oil, WD-40, and PB Parts Blaster, and after removing the spark plug, let it soak for a few hours. After a little elbow grease, I got the piston in move. Fresh gas a a few pulls of the starter, and she fired right up.

There is still a ton of carbon built up on the piston head, so I am going to get some Sea Foam, remove the plug, and soak the top of the piston for a few hours.

Please, everyone, don't think you can get away with running a 2-cycle engine without oil!

Also, you remember that beat to hell green and yellow mower I had given up on a few weeks ago?

Drumroll please.....

I got it cranked! It needed more carb work, and a new spark plug. After I got it going for a few minutes, I opened the oil tube. A shower of oil shot out of it. The oil was the color of a vanilla milkshake! Looked like there was even more water in there than I had originally thought! I got the oil changed, and after a little fine tuning, she is running strong. I am still planning on removing all of the self-propelled mechanism, as it is broken, and very heavy.

@FJ60Cam , guess what I came across yesterday...

Yep, a Tecumseh engine. I am afraid it is trashed though. The small screw that is in the butterfly valve became loose whenever the PO was last using the motor, and the engine sucked it into the cylinder. I have a feeling the valves are ruined, though I wont know until I tear it down. The good news, is that if you can figure out which of the parts are bad on your mower, you can have these.

Thanks for the offer, but that sounds like more fun than I want to have.

I did this to it, and it seems a lot better. I'll just run it til it dies.

My dad bought a Poo-Lawn blower at an estate sale for $10 and gave it to me. After a carb rebuild, new fuel lines, and an air filter, it worked just okay. Well... It was kinda awful, but it worked. Friend's mom gave me another one that was used by the friend's grandpa, and I use that one now. I can't escape these awful yellow blowers :-/
