Bumper's almost finished!









IMHO, thats the best damn 60 series bumper I've eve seen. Only to be made even better by my rotopax mount idea and Reeveci's quarter panel guards

Next up is finishing payment on te bumper, should be this Friday!!! Then, I'll do brakes. All new calipers, rotors, shoes,at be even those little spring things that help control the parking brake (they don't do s*** on the passenger side). After the SOA, we did little tests and from 35 to 0, stopping distance was just as good as Aidan's 80. I'd like to get back there or better. The eBay MC may have something to do with it, but I'm not leaking any brake fluid so I'm not sure.

Lowering it will be more problematic. I've only got 4-5 leaves in the packs so I don't want to remove anymore. And I've already got a 1.5" spacer on the front to match the width of the 80 rear FF. The guy that gave me the rear axle told ma about getting custom spring packs made that have the eye on the bottom instead of on the top at each end. I haven't really researched it to know if its a good idea or a ghettofabbed nightmare, but it looked interesting. That would drop it an inch or two, I'm
Just worried about my pinion and castor angles. If really rather not have to cut and turn another 60 axle.. Then I'll find some new wheels with less BS. 4.5" is way too much, so 3.5" or less would be ideal. I've been looking at the TR beadlocks because I'm making the best mall crawler Lenox has ever seen.

Or somebody just find me a very cheap set of CUCV axles STAT! That should take are of my width problem

Ya gotta take a pge from the hardcore guys to make this happen. Lowering mini trucks on Pirate was all the rage a few years back and there were all kinds of ideas thrown out there.

for example: there's a extremely built 3rd gen on 49s that sits right at 25" to the frame, I think mine is about 24"+/- on 37sf or reference.

For the NON-shackled end of the springs:
One of the ways the Pirate guys used to do it was to cut into the frame and then french the hanger into the frame as shown in the pic down below. I've seen different variations of this but you get the idea.

The shackled end
On yours... if I remember the front spring shackle mount is welded to the underside of the frame, there's no good reason that I know of to do this and it only raises the rig. If so, remove that POS and cut and sleeve the frame to accept the shackles. You'll loose a couple inches at least doing this.

Thanks for the pics and thread. I measured mine the other day, 26" from the ground to the frame. Think we'd need french the shackle and fixed ends? I think
Maybe just one would lower it pretty well. Then jut add some shims.

Bumper's finally here! too bad i need to do the tcase work first this weekend. Aidan may cut/weld the bumper quarter guards while i supervise and replace the trans O ring. being busy sucks.
