Not yet. I haven't been able to hit any trails yet :( Next weekend at windrock will be the first real trip. Then I'll see I need my anti wrap bar, longer rear shackles, relocated rear shackle mounts, and trimmed front fenders. Should be a fun outing though.

What trails are you planning on testing it out on?

Right now, we're planning on going on the end of 22 (a SOA 60 on 35s almost rolled at GSMTR, so id like to try it out myself), 43, 44, 26, 2, 16, 60, 15 (if i can make it passed the tree), and whatever else we can find. Id like to find some harder trails since all we did at GSMTR were blues and Aidan's 80 was definitely yearning for more.

Woke up to this near the front door today, been gone so long, at times i forgot i had them!

When i got them off "Rusty", the plastic doors took up the entire panel, and one was almost entirely broken off its hinges... Cant have that! So now, the doors are smaller, and i added a lockable latch to one side so that it'd be a little harder to break into haha.

latching system

Locking latch

Air Compressor mockup. Really hoping it fits between the wheel well and rear seat haha.

So now, I've just got to find out where my Wagon Gear tailgate lid is... Seems to be MIA in Illinois somewhere... Which FxxxING SUCKS, especially since that thats the package that has my Wagon gear stickers in it :crybaby:

But i put a little money down on one of reevesci's "Trail Tailer" rear bumper, so that makes me feel much better knowing that that will be coming in a month or so. He's already begun sending me pictures of it... I couldn't believe he'd gotten started on it already. J's, definitely a great, talented guy. So I'm happy to be sending money his way for such a quality piece.

looking great!

Huge rust hole in the quarter panel let a bunch of dirt in... Im sure mud sitting inside there doesn't contribute to additional rust in ANY way lol.

Action shot !

Im planning on welding this up before before the bumper gets here.

When you go to place the DS panel, you'll notice that there's a huge group of wires blocking you from getting it into the correct spot... You'll need to unplug all of them in the quarter panel, pull the harness back to C-pillar, and then stuff it through this hole instead. Then you're on your way again!

After drilling, then re-drilling holes the bottom for the allen bolts (wrong hole locations and the two missing bolts needed to be a .5" longer..), we got the panel installed and the ARB template taped on.

After a quick run to Home Depot, we had the necessary bolts and the compressor in place :)

Being lazy, I wanted to call it a day. I didn't want to wrestle with the other side today. I had had enough of pulling little metal shavings out of the carpet! But Aidan wanted to continue on.. alright fine haha.
And thank fully, this side went on MUCH easier than the DS panel, probably because the holes actually lined up...

Sort of like with the big clump of wires on the other side, the fuel door release cable is in the way of the PS door! But all you do is unclip it from the fuel door, pull it back to the C-pillar, then stuff it through this hole right onto of the wheel well (after enlarging it).

All clean for pictures :D

Driver side is super clean and almost ready to stuff with a few kilos!

Passenger side is dirty as hell and just for show!

All set for daily duties :)

And I found out that my tailgate lid got shipped back to Oregon for some reason after sitting in Illinois for 4 days... Anyone know why the hell UPS did that hahaha??? Anyway, it should be here on 5th, so hopefully they'll try a little harder to get it to me than their last attempt.

ACC had an HJ61 in the shop yesterday, so i definitely had to go CHECK DAT s*** OUT!!!!! Never seen one before up close like this and it was neat as hell! Only problem, I was so excited to look at it i forgot to use the good camera to take pics...

Chillin next to one badass drift car.

SO JDM!!!! awesome!

After the HJ61 got picked up by the new owner (yeah it sounded as good as it looked), Aidan and I got to work cutting a big hole in the tailgate for the last wagon gear panel that showed up Friday.

About this time, i went to go sit in the ACC office, because air conditioning. I figured if i hide out in there long enough and annoy the people and the pup, Macho, the next time i go outside, Aidan will have finished installing the panel himself, and i will be able to continue annoying the people and Macho... Only problem, Aidan cut the s*** out of his thumb while grinding down the edges, and only 5 of the bolt holes lined up with the WG panel. When we got home later, I fell right to sleep, but Aidan appears to have gotten to work drilling more holes and finishing the install... like he should've at ACC........................

Bumper Progress!!!

Even MORE bumper progress

I'm going with a single, centered tire carrier, but with a little something something added in :)

My transmission has really been fxxxing around lately. Don't trust it at all right now. Been slipping like crazy today so I checked the fluid after driving it around for a while and its super low, so i guess its all dumping into the tcase again... can't really think of a reason it would be doing that unless i got a single spring fj60 seal instead of a double spring fj62 seal OR i just didn't put the seal in correctly. I installed it flush, so maybe its supposed to go in farther to actually seal correctly?

Picture of installed output shaft seal (look correct to anyone?)

Really not looking forward to this s*** again

Did you install the oring on the output shaft of the trans? The OEM oring is triangle shaped and fits into the chamfer on the snout of the tcase input gear.

I made sure to put everything back on that I took off, but I don't think i remember seeing a washer like that :/ Just that the nut had that thicker end on the back, but i remember you saying that was normal. I guess not having that washer wouldn't push the gears back far enough to make good contact with the seal. Supposedly the guy i bought the truck from had the Tcase rebuild a few months prior to selling, don't want to put blame elsewhere since i may just not remember putting that washer on, but its plausible that they forgot to put it on when they were botching their homemade mcnamera gear. Ill see if i can't find the pictures we took from that Tcase day.

Also looking to into making a McNamera gear using another PTO gear to take the place of that middle spacer with no splines (described here,https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/diy-hd-mcnamara-gear.397916/). Im also gonna look into just replacing the output shaft with the one from my other trans. Its in MUCH better shape, no visible wear on the splines at all. Might get rid of that stupid kick when putting the truck into gear.

Thanks for the response, Mike!

Edit: The trans output shaft isn't removed and installed from the rear is it, Mike? Or does the trans need to be separated from the engine and removed and the shaft taken out the front? probably a dumb question haha

Edit 2: ...yeah that says oring haha, not washer. disregard the above washer talk BS.

It's very hard to replace the trans output shaft. It requires pulling most of the trans apart. The o-ring I was referring to goes around the output shaft and is slid over the shaft before the input gear for the tcase is installed. It effectively seals the splines of the output shaft while the dual spring seal, seals the outside of the gear.

Washer.. really, self???
That sucks about the shaft. Its also got some australian "extreme valve body" in the trans. Don't know if thats even good. Maybe it would be worth to swap both... but thats a whole different conversation.

Anyway, I just talked to Aidan and neither of us remember removing or installing anything like what you're describing.

I just want to make sure though, it would go on right in between the seal and #36212 in this diagram, correct?

EDIT:
Or was the o ring supposed to be installed BEFORE the actual seal itself?

EDIT 2: Is the o ring similar to this one below from an fj60?

Thanks again Mike. Giving me hope that my trans isn't just about to die. Just some shoddy work either done by me or the PO lol!

The o-ring I am referring to is 36212J. It slides over the shaft before anything else goes on. The picture you have looks like the correct o-ring but the fj60 cases do not have the o-ring only the fj62s.

The OEM o-ring was triangle shaped (to fit in the chamfer) but the o-rings that come in the rebuild kits are all round.

Alright cool! Ill head over there tomorrow to order another output shaft seal, rear companion flange seal and nut (i don't remember if that needs to be removed), oem o ring (if not discontinued), and all split case gaskets, plus anything else thats slipping my mind.

Thanks for all the help, y'all are an invaluable resource to have :beer::beer:
