Ron I figured you for a sheepskin kind of guy...

You guys are killing me. Goat hide is one of the better ones, but I don't think Birfy or Cruiser would be up for it.

Working on the little things, while waiting for the painting to start, on the body. Finished all the brake lines, at least the first round, we'll see if any leaks.

Bought an alum. radiator, overflow can and a power steering cooler. The radiator is one with a auto trans. cooler built into it, so I'm going to run lines for an engine oil cooler. The vortec motor has provisions for this :D.

Again, I'm waiting for the radiator to show, started taking apart the wiper motor and arms. It's no wonder these run slow, just looking at the gearbox with dried out grease and every moving part, dry and corroded. Haven't got in the motor yet, to see the brushes.

Oh yeah, I got my steering wheel. Thanks to John Pardi, I now have a beautiful wheel in the bare interior. Now, I can sit on my milk crate, turn the wheel and make motor noises. Don't act like you never done it! :)

Trying to get a pile ready for the powder coater. Steering shaft, lambcrusher's grille, etc. My guy charges a minimum, so I bring alot.

Pablo,

I'm going to use Super Lube, the same stuff I used on the tailgate gears. Same system as the wiper gears. The can says it can even be used as wheel bearing grease, I never used it there.

Super Lube doesn't dry out or melt, good stuff.

I took the wiper motor apart, today. While the brushes looked good, I did find a loose wire that will need to be soldered.

When I first seen the plastic gear, I thought here's another one for Midgainc, but I don't believe this one has the torque applied to it, like the tailgate. No cracks.

Looks alittle better cleaned up, hopefully, should run smoother now.

Also took apart the wiper arm connecting rods, alot of little parts in all that system.

I'm not sure, but Lil' John has been putting an Chevy S10 unit in his. I would like to have a multi speed system, but want the stock steering column and switches. I really haven't given it any thought. Too much!

I'm going to start to put the wiper motor, back together. Wanted to show somethings I discovered.

That loose wire I showed, has to be unsoldered anyway, to be able to disassemble.

There is a small ball bearing at the end of the worm gear, goes between the worm gear and the adjuster screw, DON'T LOSE IT!

I got out the can of Super Lube and applied accordingly. Alot different looking than 42 year old grease.

Decided to paint the motor body, instead of plating as there are two rivets on the end of the cap and I didn't feel like taking them out. :meh:

I used that Rust-oleum Hammered paint. As soon as it drys, I'll put all back.

Thanks Man,

It's amazing how much stuff you can find, to rebuild. I'm in this so far now, might as well keep going. Sad part is, I won't know if any of it works until next year.

By then you won't remember how you fixed everything anyway! :D

Sounds like me when I rebuilt my lock-out dials!
I lost it.
Probably the same ball bearing!

Pablo,

That's why I put that in there, I chased one across the shop floor, too! :)

Memory is short, so I take alot of pictures and thank God for a parts wagon.

I never did find the one for my ASCO lock-out dial. So instead I got to find a source! I was taking the dial apart and heard the tiniest little noise. I wondered what that noise could be and then looked back down at the dial and realized that what I had heard was that BB going into orbit across my garage. Son of a...

The funny thing is that my :princess: used to come out and join me in the driveway/garage, figuring that we could have a nice little relaxing afternoon together. It would never fail that she would always come out right before the eruption of profanities would ensue. Now she does not come out to witness the extent of my "plumber's vocabulary"...

And here it is, all back together. The connecting arms are getting cad. plated and the motor shield will get powder coated.

Alot of little rivets in the arms, I have deal with, not sure it's really worth the trouble. I went ahead and bought some 3m SS screws and nuts, to replace the rivets.
