While waiting on the Monstaliner products, I finished up the sound deadener. I'm getting very close to finishing this undercoating stuff.

The upper front fenders are done, as they will not get the monstaliner. The bottom fender well will get it.

Anyway here's a picture, just so I remembered I did it. Getting a few little things figured out along the way, so it's not all wasted time.

I truly want to thank Lambcrusher for stepping up and selling me this great grill. Just the crate it came in, was worth the price.

The grill is getting taken apart and worked over for it's new home on the 71.

It will never be this clean the rest of it's life. The Monstaliner will be here Wed., so I'll retape and spray it Cygnus White.

Started on the door innards, oh man! that's going to be fun. Took apart a couple of door hinges and after doing some reading, I'm going with the Napa pins and bushings. They're close to home, so no shipping and seems to be the same amount of work involved as useing 40 pins.

I've got another body guy coming out next week to take a look, he works for a dealership and does custom cars from his home shop. Can't hurt.

Are you plating the hinges or door innards (for lack of the technical terms)?

Good question. Yes, I think so. Innards will get the yellow Cad. and not sure about the hinges, maybe just paint. It wouldn't hurt to have them plated and then decide to paint or not.

You don't get use the word " innards " too often.

Started media blasting the Innards, today. There's alot going on, inside a door!

Questions: Anybody ever take all this apart? In the pictures, the hinge has the pin removed, any reason to drive out the other two pins, that connect the linkage.

Anybody ever take the handle off the rod. A plastic " push in clip " holds the rod in place, any ideas on removing. I wouldn't mind replating the old rusty spring, also.

I also welded up the antenna hole, that was on top of the fender. My good fender had the hole on top and the parts pig's is on the side. I like it on the side, so before paint, get it done.

Here's a quick one for anybody at the same place as me. I couldn't find the right gasket that goes between the top fender and the inner wheel well ( doghouse ) , so I made my own.

Ordered a strip of neoprene rubber from McMaster-Carr. # 9013K52. It is 1/8th" thick, 2" wide and 36" long. You'll have to split it into two 1" strips and trim alittle off the 36".

I used a hollow punch, to make the holes and glued it downed, prefect!

Also, got some hinge pins and tailgate bushings, so I've alot to do.

Finally! got the body done. Took all day, but I got three coats of Cygnus White tinted Monstaliner sprayed on.

Turned out nice, but it wouldn't be mine if there wasn't something messed up. Forgot to spray the gas tank trap door. .

Now I start bolting stuff up!

Wow, looks great Ron! If i remember correctly, you sprayed your doors too, how much do you think that will affect your hinges with the extra weight?

Good question! I did spray the doors and they are heavier. Glad I'm rebuilding the hinges. I would think with the bronze bushings, it will be fine.

The sound deadener is very heavy stuff, the doors have that new car door feel, now.

How did you prep the interior of the doors, Ron?

Did you blast, rust inhibitor, then the deadener?

Know it's been answered, so please excuse, but do you still plan a floor mat or carpet?

I believe the PO did sandblast the doors, then painted. I used the Eastwood product " Internal Frame Coating ", then sprayed the Lizard Skin sound deadener.

I haven't bought any mats yet, but will use something " rubbery ", no carpets. I do have a OE front floor mat, that's in good shape, but I would have to cut holes for all the shifters.

I'm assuming that I can spray the inside of the door over the epoxy that my guy is using. Don't know why I couldn't and he, all but, refuses to spray the deadener "in house".

For that reason, will probably wait until I can pull the body and do all at once.

I've had a hard time finding the rubber mat and don't have any that are useable. Think I'll continue hunting for the 72, but may (eventually, many moons from now) pull the nasty carpet from the 76, spray it, and leave it exposed.

The Lizard Skin will stick to the paint, no problems.

I've found that the Lizard Skin is not as hard as the bedliner products and wouldn't be a good choice for high wear area. That's why I sprayed the white Monstaliner as a finish on the floor.

I don't know man, seeing what you did with those body mounts, it don't get better than that. Keep doing what you've been doing.
