Thanks Jason,

It's just exciting to see some wagons getting painted and on the road, I'd like to be with them. It won't be too long.

I did get started on the Lizard Skin, first coat of sound deadener.

Also got some parts back from the platers and started on the tailgate, but had to stop until it's all painted.

On a side note, that two foot hose on the new undercoating gun, didn't work. The Lizard Skin is too thick. I'm going to play with thinning, but no big hopes.

It was made for the thinner Eastwood's product called Heavy-Duty Anti-Rust, which I'm going to use in the hard to reach areas.

Nothing real interesting, but I'll show you anyway. :)

My headlight buckets were pretty bad with rust and some of the plastic threads for the headlight adjusters, were cracked or broken off. So, I used some weld nuts, which worked great, but they didn't hold the adjuster bolts from backing out.

I found a product called Vibra-Tite, it's a thread fastener. You just paint it on the threads and the bolts won't back out. You can reuse the bolts and the stuff stays in the threads. I got it alittle too heavy, but still seems alright.

They turned out good, media blasted and cad. plated.

Here's some pictures of the old one and how it turned out.

Yeah, I got lucky, this place is on the way to St. Louis. Not alot of these companies around.

Bob,

All I understand, is it's called Cadmium #2 yellow. To be honest the guy confuses me more every time I ask him about it. The yellow is alittle soft, but the Cad., he says, is twice as protective as a Zinc plating.

Is there any body in the st louis are that can sand blast an FJ40 tub on a frame? My local guy in Cape Girardeau wants 1400 I dont want to send his kids to college?

Shipmag,

I don't know anybody worth mentioning. $1400 does sound really high.

Good Luck with it, I've been reading about your progress. I have a Daughter and Son in law, living in Cape.

Bob,

I just wanted to say, Thanks for you and everybody hanging in there with me, while I piddle around and get through this. I'll try and make it somewhat interesting to read. At least look at some pig pictures. We'll see where this leads.

The white Lizard Skin showed up Saturday, so I tried it out. My gun was acting up, on the first coat. I found the vent clogged, so the first coat was thin and didn't cover at all.

I shot the second coat today and it turned out alot better. Due to my mess up, I'm going to shoot a third coat. This white Ceramic Insulation is the stuff that holds back the heat, so I want it right.

Hoping since it's white, the tinted Cygnus White Monstaliner will cover better. By the time I'm done this floor is going to be 1/2 inch thick.

What are you doing about floor holes? You just cleaning up the threads as you need them?

Npulver,

Yes, it's easy enough to run a tap through them. All the unused holes were welded up. I've been cleaning up all the bolt holes as I go, as they have rust and crud in them anyhow.

Really glad you're going with the white! I surprised to see the black coating down. Looking good as always.

Thanks Man,

The final coating will the Cygnus White Monstaliner and it doesn't cover over the black very well. So this might work better. Everything is so textured, the different colors don't blend well.

I use foam ear plugs to plug holes. They're cheap and conform well to any sized hole.
