Lambcrusher,

Good eye, I have a one inch lift block, on top of the body mounts. Need alittle extra height, for the Vortec.

I don't know, I've got an extra 69, thought you could make me a pickup! :)

maybe I could build another truck and you could throw a bit of your kung-fu on my wagon!

Sounds real tempting, but when I get done with mine, I got to show some love to a VW conv. and my Deuce. By that time, they'll be taking my keys away from me. :)

Ron-

Looking amazing!

Thanks Man,

Can't wait to get started on the motor mounts. Going to be alot of head scratching.

I'm going nowhere, fast. Sorting out parts and making sure they all work together. Still might need the block hugger headers, but I'm going to try and fit the Corvette manifolds first. Here's some part numbers for the clutch pieces to bolt up to a 5.3 Gen.III.

Centerline pressure plate--CF165473S
Centerline clutch disc--383735
Ram flywheel--1550
ARP flywheel bolts--330-2802
ARP pressure plate bolts--134-2201
Pilot bushing & spacer from AA-- I don't have #

I spent two days getting a engine leveler and making brackets to bolt it up, so setting it in the frame is alittle easier on me. Hope it works.

Got everything bolted up. Had to open up the bellhousing, because the 5 speed has two ears on the bearing retainer, which wouldn't pass the opening.

Still need to balance everything on the lift. Whole lot of weight, on the back end. I should have built my own lift as this one just seems weak.

Need to figure out the slave cylinder mounting, forgot about the spring, I'll look at the 69, tomorrow and see what it has. probability should buy a new one.

While waiting for a few more small parts and some more hands on deck, I'd thought about making my own motor mounts.

This is what I came up with. Needed something that I can adjust, when the motor is in the right spot. Then weld up good, on the bench. Really just playing with some metal.

What do you think, will they work.

kinda hard to see, but exactly how my mounts were made. should work great, i know mine were damn solid, but had some good vibration dampening to them.

Npulver,

They do look like mine, with the poly bushings. I just hope the 3" tubing clears the headers.

Thanks, Ron

Good looking motor mounts. It all comes down to manifold clearance.

NikP,

You're right, if it comes to it, I'll cut some clearance in the tubing and rebox it. I'm thinking, I'll wind up buying the center dump headers, but want to try the Corvette manifolds, first.

Nice metal work.

Thanks BritKLR,

I keep wasting time, not making up my mind on parts. I went ahead and ordered a set of Sanderson headers. Should be here Monday, so I made my own version of a transmission mount. Welds aren't pretty, but should hold. Still need to make the crossmember, I'll have to wait until I get the motor placed, to figure that out.

Ron -
Can't wait to read how it went today. Great progress and looking purty!

We got it in! Thanks to my Son, we worked through the problems and have it sitting in it's home. I was really fearing the oilpan and hood issues, but the pan ain't even close.

Now I need opinions from the V8 guys. I have @ 3/4 inch clearance under the hood. Over 6 inches at the pinion flange, up and down and over 3 inches clearance at the flange and pan, sideways.

My engine angle is right at 4 degrees, but the transfer case is hanging down @ 6 inches below the frame. I can tuck it up higher, but will suffer on the angle.

Time to fit the mounts and a hundred other things, but for today, I'm feeling good and the beer is going down cold!

I played around with the mounts, today. Wasn't real sure if they would even work out. I think they will, it came together pretty well.

Anybody have an opinion on the transfer case hanging down and the 4 degree angle. I'll make a skid plate, but with it hanging so low, I won't be following Pighead! :)

thanks for the pm Ron, glad i finally got to check out your build thread. love the project and work you're doing!

if i were you, i'd raise the t-case. 3 degree angle for the engine will work just fine. you have plenty of rear d-line length and it'll lessen the angle for the front t-case output and front driveline.

keep it going!

georg @ valley hybrids

ps: got the check for the parts and the mount late last week. thanks again for sending business my way. :)

Thanks Georg and Lil' John,

That's what I needed, some sound guidance! I haven't welded in the mounts yet, so adjustment will be easy. I want it as close to right as I can get it. With alittle luck, I just might get this done. :)

Thanks again, Ron
