Well, you don't have to pull the connector off... all you really have to do is interrupt the the black/blue wire from the ECU to the L4 switch. Connect it to a switch, connect +12V on to the other side of the switch. When the circuit has power, the transmission will shift using the low range map, when open (no voltage) it will shift using the high range map ("easy shifting"), giving you full control. This includes overdrive.

An even easier way is to:

At the TCM just connect the wire that goes to the power/normal switch to the low range/high range wire instead. Now the switch is useful on the dash, and its a less than five minute job.


I tend to run in the sluggish high range map all the time, unless some spirited driving is called for. Now passengers don't complain at my driving style as much ;)
