Sleeping on a floor, how much space?

Anyone done it? If I remove 3rd row and fold second, is there enough space to sleep in a bag inside on a floor?
Maybe if you're 5' tall.

You're better off folding all the seats down (2nd and 3rd row) and then throwing an air mattress on top. That's pretty flat. If you want a solid platform you could use a sheet of 4x8 plywood cut down to 4x6. For portability you could probably cut that into 2x3 sections and hinge them together so the 4x6x3/4" platform folds to 2x3x~3"

Thank you! What size air matress will work? I like idea with plywood. I am 6 1
Full size will work for sure. Not sure about queen but possible as it's only 6" wider. Admittedly I've only used a twin size one though as the other half my trunk was full of camping gear.

If you won’t need second row it can be removed for about 6’7” from the tailgate to the front row console/seat backs. Note that if you do this you’ll need to temporarily install a resistor to trick the abs system into not throwing a light/code.

What resistor? I will get my lx on Tuesday and need to travel on Friday

2nd row all the way forward and folded up gives me just enough room to sleep on the floor (I am 5’8”). If you can sleep slightly diagonal, there is even more room.

I don’t remember off hand, but it has been posted in this section so you should be able to search.

Note that the larger side is very heavy and somewhat difficult to get out by yourself.. I am not a small person and just barely able to manage it solo each time I take a trip. Depending on physical ability you may want to have a helper on site.

The standard platform/mattress across the second and third rows folded down is probably the flattest most comfortable configuration as @linuxgod detailed.

There is a couple more arrangements possible:

1) Spanning passenger front row through second row. Not ideally flat but could work for shorter than 5'8" with some rolled up pads and pillows in key places. Move front passenger seat as forward as possible and second row as far rearward as possible. Take-off front headrest. Lean seatback all the way back so it bridges to second row. Lean second row seatback for incrementally more height.

2) Rear cargo area with hatch down and second row folded up. This requires a hatch tent like this one. Prob my favorite configuration with the most room and comfort, including a large breathable tent wall. Can still use a full size mattress and has leg room for days. Drawback is you'll have to clear out the cargo area. All the gear can go to the front seats and outside or on roof rack.

Whatever you do, get yourself some nice sock style screens to go over the second row doors. Maybe even a battery/USB powered fan. Makes for better ventilation.

Having tried the pads across the folded seats, I wasn't a fan of the inability to sit up inside the rig due to lack of headroom, personally. I'm a bit taller than OP but not a ton.

Forgot to mention that being a major reason I go through the trouble of removing my second row instead of just fold everything flat. Drawers + flat second row would be very convenient but untenable in terms of headroom.

And YES to the window socks. Key detail.

If you remove the 3rd row and put a set of boxes in the cargo area, then when you fold down the 2nd row it's flat.

There are some pic's around using a exped megamat air mattress and this setup.

Here are the resistors I bought from digikey.

Ive spent 15 or so nights in the back of my Land Cruiser with the rear seats gone, the middle row folded. I sleep diagonal and have decent room at 6'1"

Its a 1 man shot though, no room for 2 people if you go diagonal.

I did have a sleeping platform I made for one trip, as other said I didnt like it since you are too close to the ceiling and too exposed.

I have the third row removed and a drawer unit back there. It's about 12 inches high, I think.

I initially had also removed the second row and had made a box with I hinged lid that was the same height as the drawer unit. I had it perpendicular to the drawer box on the passenger side and used it last winter on my annual trip back east to see relatives in Vermont and Maine. One-man setup, obviously, but there was plenty of room to have the "bunk" all set up on the passenger side and actually leave it that way throughout the trip, with my 4" thermarest fully inflated. Nice to be able to get in on the rear drivers side and take my boots and whatnot off.

Then, this summer, my wife complained at the lack of having a second row. So I put that back in (and still have that ABS light to show for it).

I'm still able to fold the second row and put a sheet of plywood on the top (actually the top to the now-not-being-used box, since both it and the drawer unit having matching carpet on top and mate up perfectly). If I move the passenger seat forward a bit, I have plenty of room to stretch out.

I am also 6'1".

Here is what I do: Ply wood, megamat, and a sleeping bag over the 2nd and 3rd row folded down. The floor isn’t close to as flat as the seat backs.

Perfect! I like this setup the best I think. Mainly because I don't need to worry about removing seats and it's also more like a "bed" where I can sit on a edge. And store some stuff as well. Do you use single piece of plywood or hinged?

Any particular sock/screens that fit the 200 well?

Her Is what I made. The wood only really needs to cover the gap between the 2nd and 3rd row. At just <56” long I can turn it sideways across the 3rd row as well. That way you can have it in the rig and still use the 2nd row if needed. We use it when my wife comes with us hunting (which is rare). The 2 kids and I in the RTT and my wife in the LX on this set up.
