Anyone have a HF (or similar) 20 ton shop press that could tell me the dimensions and thickness of the vertical posts, top stationary and movable cross bars?

I'm going to build a 20/25 ton shop press basically the size of the HF 20 ton press, but with a bit heavier material. Keeping it the size of the HF 20 ton press since there are some bending brake parts made to fit them.

And before everyone says just buy one because it will be cheaper than building one, I can't just run down to HF or have one shipped because I'm on Big Island HI and shipping will cost more than the press! lol

Cheers,

I have one, not sure what dimensions you mean.

The upright C channels width, depth of the flanges, thickness of the web & flanges. the same for the cross bar C channels for the ones that adjust up & down and set on the pins through the upright C channels and and the same on the top C channels across the top.

Not needing exact measurements, just close to know what size to C channel to use for mine. I think HF uses custom formed C channel for the them and I'll be using standard C channel so won't match but will have good base line to size mine.

Cheers, Allen

I built mine with a 20 ton bottle jack and it bent both upper and lower channels if you look close you can see where I put flat bar to both supports.
There's a s*** load off pressure at 20 ton you don't want anything coming out from that weight so over engineer.

I thought they looked about 3" wide.

I have a some old FJ40 axles I'm going to use for pins.
Thx, Allen

I was just looking at the hf press the other day, it appears it's made out of structural C channels. They.looked to be about 3".
