Has anyone played around with installing a single-row LED light bar into the OEM bumper?

On the 2003+ LX470, the lower bumper opening looks like a good spot to fit one of these in.

Check out some pics I randomly found on Google on other trucks:

Many companies make these lights and they range in different sizes, ie. 30" all the way up to 60"+ and have either straight shape or a slight curve.

Here's a quick Photoshop I did too see how it would look (assuming you can stuff one of these in there).

What do you guys think? Is this even realistic?

I'm interested in the for my front bumper also

Piles of them on Ebay, straight from China. Various widths available, quick look shows the height to be 41mm, not sure what the space in the bumper measures.

So far the thinnest I have found 1.45" in height, now to measure the available opening.

EDIT- Available opening is 1-5/8" but only ~2" of available depth before the main structural beam is in the way.:( Sticking out that far might look ghetto, thoughts?

what is the width of the opening?

I've seen the fins trimmed before to fit when mounted behind grilles in trucks without ill effect. This was the smallest one I've found so far. $74.99

edit: cheaper on ebay $56.99

I've spent two days looking while I "worked" and that is the smallest bar I can find. It's $57 on ebay, so I'm picking one up because I think it can be mounted where it sits flush behind the bumper.

I also picked up a $43 50" bar and $35 windshield brackets for my '89 wrangler . I may have a problem. :steer:

Cool that you took the time. Be aware you only have ~2" from the front to the metal structural part of the bumper.

Can you share the link to the ebay fixture you found?
