I liked Adam's low budget idea as well, and also needed the steps for wife et al. I got these from Adam at 4xinnovations.com for a good price. I like the kickout at the back (more protection & a better step). I will be starting a thread soon on the installation of these with an integrated cat skidplate.

P.S. I agree that the factory running boards (even if you don't wheel) look a little...shall we say...metrosexual...

Those look really good. I wish mine had the kickout at the back. Can't wait to see the writeup.

It looks like you can only get those in 60" (Toyota Reg Cab size). Isn't that too small for our 80's? Obviously I haven't measured yet.

Keith,

Just a quick note to take into consideration. Sliders, although used as a step, are designed and meant to protect the rig first and foremost. Given that, most sliders are designed to offer the best clearance possible.

Best clearance = higher step height

Bottom line, when you lift that rig your step in height is going to go up. Sliders, while they will lower it somewhat, won't bring it down too far and no where near what the running boards would have.

Look at the truck today and imagine the step being right about rocker panel height. Then move that up by however much lift you're going with and see what you think. Does it amount to the same step up height as what you have today without the running boards?

On my LX with 2.5" OME lift and 285s using my MetalTech sliders as "steps" is marginal for small kids or a :princess: in a skirt (was funny watching her try though...LOL). If your family is complaining about getting in now, I have a feeling they'll still be complaining after the lift and sliders are on.

This was one of the reasons I suggested those retracting steps. I know some say they look cheesy, and I agree. But if you could figure out a way to mount them that they are hidden (or nearly so) then not only would they not interfere with Cruiser's lines and not be hanging down to get ripped off, but depending upon how far they drop down when extended it may be like having the step stool in the pic above :)

is there any set of sliders out there that make a good use for a step.... some better then others maybe...

Not sure how you missed it, but...

...midway down the page there are 68" available in DOM or HREW with or without the kickout. I got a deal on the DOM. I know it probably won't make a significant difference, but they are made for a mini-truck, and a cruiser weighs approximately 1.2765 metric s***-tons more.;)

Nice guys there, and we ordered a couple sets and saved a few bucks on shipping.:D

Can't beat the price...

I'm sure. I've got the MetalTech sliders which are great for what they designed for. As for steps, well the tubing is angled up which makes for a higher step height.

Now the Slee "Slidersteps" I've heard great things about both as sliders and the flat "step" part.

I think Jim at SROR can design anything you want and the sliders he made for the Rising Sun Raffle Rig (see link in my sig line) are absolutely awesome.

Box Rocket, can you post some pics of how the sliders are mounted!!

Please,
Thanks,

Oh, I missed it because the photo on the site says RS01-H-K and should say RS02 & RS03. The 02's being 68" and the 03's 80"
Thanks and yeah, they probably couldn't hold the weight of our 80's since it doesn't have a square tube or C-channel under the rocker.
