Keith,
Just a quick note to take into consideration. Sliders, although used as a step, are designed and meant to protect the rig first and foremost. Given that, most sliders are designed to offer the best clearance possible.
Best clearance = higher step height
Bottom line, when you lift that rig your step in height is going to go up. Sliders, while they will lower it somewhat, won't bring it down too far and no where near what the running boards would have.
Look at the truck today and imagine the step being right about rocker panel height. Then move that up by however much lift you're going with and see what you think. Does it amount to the same step up height as what you have today without the running boards?
On my LX with 2.5" OME lift and 285s using my MetalTech sliders as "steps" is marginal for small kids or a

in a skirt (was funny watching her try though...LOL). If your family is complaining about getting in now, I have a feeling they'll still be complaining after the lift and sliders are on.
This was one of the reasons I suggested those retracting steps. I know some say they look cheesy, and I agree. But if you could figure out a way to mount them that they are hidden (or nearly so) then not only would they not interfere with Cruiser's lines and not be hanging down to get ripped off, but depending upon how far they drop down when extended it may be like having the step stool in the pic above
