Tex- those wheels match that truck well! Are those lockouts on the rear axle?

Naw just stock axles - optical illusion from the caps - since that pic I've added an ome light/medium lift - sets a bit high in the back now - need to cut those shackled down. This is the only pic I have - I was test fitting a car cover that wild horses sells for early Broncos - fits the 40 ok just a bit short.

Bigred, where to get those Chevy rims (what year truck are they from) and would I be able to bore out the center myself? What size are they, 16x7?

I like the color of your truck. What color is it?

It's a great mystery to me what GM trucks had the 16" 4 slot steelies. 15 inchers are plentiful. I even found some 16.5" 4 slot steelies (passed on those due to fewer tire options) Best bet is to hit up "Mom & Pop" tire shops. My understanding is a precise center bore is important. So I had a professional bore mine.

Thank you. My favorite paint on this 12/75 40 was layed down in 2006. I gave my paintman the code # PPG 23013 (PO had sprayed the tub PPG 23013 already) and they shot everything but the tub, kick vents and hinges.

I started putting her back together in 2013 and decided to have the tub painted by the same shop. I gave them the same code and my bezel for a color swatch (I was so green in 2006 I had my bezel shot body color). Well Dangit, the tub didn't come out as rich. Since the tub didn't match I decided to paint the small parts myself. So I bought PPG 23013 and got the 3rd shade of Lt Brown on my cruiser.

So...I've no idea what color it is:). If I had a do-over I'd get everything painted at the same time.

@thebigredrocker

Good looking truck! What size and make tires are you running there? 2" lift?

Pete

Well thanks Pete! I sometimes forget how freaking awesome my 40 is. My daughter requested I pick her up from the spring frolic in the "cruiser". Having people stare at my vehicle is quite a foreign feeling to me.

My tyres are 235 85 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R. They fit within the fenders nicely. I believe I measured the tread at 7ish inches. It's been awhile:confused: I actually would like to find a fifth for a spare. They have been in my rafters for 10 years. I believe they are NLA.

I was told by the PO it has 2" OME.

The collection of 16" chevy rims I've gathered are all 5" wide. I have not widened any yet.

265x70xR16 pirelli scorpions. Rims are steel from a 2001 Gibraltar hilux. No 8 offset with 9mm spacers in the front to clear the TRE.

Great on road, nice and quite and nice grip on rocky suffices when light wheelin. Not so great in mud, so want to upgrade to these...

265x75xr16. Should be much better in the mud and they look a lot meaner too.

In Aus we were lucky enough to get 16" one piece rims from new. They're OEM and because they're a 16" they fit over disc brakes unlike the 15" rims in other markets. So they've got that early truck look because there's so much space between the rim and the centre cap. My personal faves.

Is the AUS hubcap the same as for US? Can you post a photo looking directly at the side of the wheel? Thanks

Same cap as Aus, just more rim. 45 y.o saggy springs FYI [AFAIK].

16x7.

@Racer65 those are an amazing find. Is this a source that may dry up or do you anticipate having these 16" rims as an ongoing racer65 option?

I'd say there is a time window for these to be available. After stock is consumed, things may go into hibernation mode until there is sufficient demand to justify a new production run.
