I'm going to look at a 05 LX470 on Saturday for $8900. I'm going to follow the OTRAMM pre-purchase inspection when I go to look at it. I'm taking a buddy of mine who is a mechanic as well. Is there anything else specific that I should be looking out for that isn't mentioned in the OTRAMM video? It's 276K miles but the owner says they are majority highway miles. 1 owner as well and meticulously taken care of. Southern vehicle so no rust according to owner, but I will still be checking. This vehicle is for my wife (for now) so I want to make sure I get it right. I appreciate the help!

Bah s***, seems like these go quick when under $10k. Some people don't care about all the stuff we're discussing and just buy .

Go buy a cheep jeep and beat this piss out of it, you'll have more fun

Right you are sir! At $10k and rust free I would have driven or flew out, immediately.

I nabbed mine for $4k essentially sight unseen and not running. My main concern was rust free chassis and body. I'm a mechanic so I'd rather put some time into the mechanicals and not deal with a "rust-oration" project, did that already with a T1N sprinter and just happy to have that behind me. I have less than $500 in some repairs plus another $500 for the fuel and hotel for the trip to trailer it back, and it runs like a champ.

From experience and adding to what the others are suggesting, around 200k miles prepare for a steering rack ($1400 just quoted on my 06 at 198k) at sometime a radiator, front axles too about $450 per side..all part of the other normal service on the awesome 4 wheel drive luxo cruisers…love both my 00lx (345k) owned for 21 years will never sell…and my 06 bought 2 years ago with 186k now 198k ..service so far ..time belt water pump, now steering rack and the secondary air pump system ( $2k ouch)
