SFA 100 series - How many?

I'm in the market for a new LC and I'm curious how many SFA 100's are out there? I've seen maybe one for sale over the past 5 years. The reason I ask is that I'd like either an 80 w/v8 or an SFA 100. I'm not looking for an exact number but how common are they in your area?

Background - I've owned 1, 100 that was built and 2, 80's that were fully built.
 
None in my area. Not many out there in general. The way the frame is on a 100 makes it difficult. Not much room for up travel, frame rails are pretty flat.

I am picking up a 100 next week. But it is not going to be used for any serious off-road. I have had an 80 with a v8, in my opinion if you plan to do a lot of off-roading the 80 with the v8 is far better.

... and 105's didn't come with a V8. In oz they were all 6 cyl 1hz diesels...

Isn't an engine swap in CA basically illegal? Or, can you change engines as long as the new engine is newer than the original, meets all emissions requirements?
 
Engine has to be newer, from similar class vehicle, and transmission has to match the new engine. Emissions of course need to be good. Many other boxes to check but it's not impossible.

Lots of engine swaps here, just not many into 80s. As the 80s get older, I would bet that it becomes more common. But for now there just might not be a big need. They run forever, and while they're underpowered, they're not 2F underpowered.
 
2 SFA 100s that I know of, both done by Slee. Several V8 80s though, 2UZ and 350s. Not just in my area, in the US total.

I know of one other ;).

Very cool to know that can be done using Toyota OEM axles.
 
I do enjoy dialogue like this is being started. 100s are finally starting to get to that point where guys are willing to dig into them and tear stuff apart. A few years ago nobody was running 35s and it seems like that population is rising slowly.
 
Slee quoted me ~25k.
Wow that's a bit much. It may very well be worth it but the last guy that said $10k, I was thinking ok that's do'able. $25k though maybe if I found a 100 with really high mileage for dirt cheap. It might be worth but I don't really want to have $45k just in the vehicle and axle swap.
