Hey guys,

My father just picked up a 2015 Land Cruiser as a new hunting rig and has asked me to build a bumper for it in a couple months (once the hunting season is over) due to the lack of any options with integrated front receivers, as well as being limited to really only ARB and TJM in the US marketplace.

At this point, his only concern pertains to interference with airbag sensors. ARB labels their Series 200 bumpers as "airbag compatible", which I find to be a bit perplexing given my knowledge of how most airbag systems work.

Are there sensors in the bumper that need to be taken into consideration when building a replacement? Or does the Series 200 use G-sensors (located in the passenger compartment) like most modern vehicles?

Thanks in advance.

It will be good to know where are sensors are before design the bumper. Front sensors seems to be behind headlight assembly. I am not sure what type they are.

Awesome, thank you!

The more I read into the ARB, the more I understand their claim... Basically the bumper's brackets are accordion-like pieces meant to serve as a crumple zone in the event of a front-end collision. This is apparently to make sure that the forces the airbag modules were designed to detect are more or less the same as they would be with factory bumper setup.

My guess is that if these crumple brackets were eliminated, there'd be a greater risk of airbag deployment in lower-speed (read: unnecessary) scenarios. Feel free to chime in if this understanding is incorrect.

Also - is that from a digital copy of the FSM? If so, where did you purchase it? Given that I've basically taken over as his mechanic, I really need to order it.
