For those that missed the meeting today, we had a great turn-out and 3 new guest families; AJ & Amy, Keith and Han, and Daisey. Lots of kids and plenty of room for them to burn off some energy. David and Ashleigh brought the black diesel troopy with the camper. The troopy was just as kewl and as big a hit as the fire truck that Shawn brought out a couple of years ago!

A beautiful day and great times with friends. Thanks guys!

Thanks to everyone that helped! Nice to meet the new folks! Hopefully Mike didn't scare them away :flipoff2:.

Thanks for the warm welcome. We had fun. Don't think we will be making Moab, but we look forward to making the next local run / meeting. Good luck to the moab group.
Now that some of you have seen the 80, I am open for advice on how to begin the mod process. Thanks again everyone

Spinners, gotta get spinners. And a chrome brush guard. And a real loud stereo. And drop the truck about 3". That should make it unique in the group.

Or, you could go shopping at Slee, Hanna, MetalTech, or 4x4Labs, put on a lift, big tires, and armor the snot out of it and be just like every other 80 in the group [ducking].

Or you could take it apart piece by piece, separate out the bolts into buckets, throw all the bigger parts into Rubbermaid plastic boxes, use the engine as a coffee table in your den, and finally, sandblast and rattle can the bonnet and then start sleeping with it in your bedroom and be just like all the 40 projects in the group.

... but doing those things would generally be thought of as crazy. :flipoff2:

I'd also look at getting some decent tires for off-road use if it's not already equipped that way. I didn't notice what you had on. If you plan to take on the expense of a lift then just wait until you've finished that to fork over the money for the 33" or 35" tires (or whatever the metric equivalent is). If you want to wait a while on that expense, some good stock size (or slightly oversize) AT tires available from several brands would be a good start. I haven't progressed beyond the decent tires due to a lack of funds but that really is your entrance ticket into this hobby.

BTW,

Thanks to Dave for putting this together.

Your welcome. I think we all agree, it was a good time had by all there. Now can we kill this thread!:deadhorse: Where and when is the Oct. meeting, Marc's?
